I straightened up our linen closet, and tossed some expired meds and mouthrinse, bits of trash, a broken comb. I also found a travel size deodorant for DD to put in her gym locker. Took only 10 minutes at the most. Looks much better!

mh: Savings Tracker for 2011 — The Coupon Project
offers a spreadsheet to track coupon savings which could be an interesting project for coupon users. Great going on freezer organizing and inventory; any on-line foodie site like ww.cooks.com 'search' feature let's you speedily make up a month of menus using items on hand and avoid expiry. For example there are 12 pg. of recipes using tater tots!
ccf: 10 minutes straightening your linen closet helps confirm these tasks are less time consuming than imagined. Kudos for storing meds in a safe, non-humid site. I hope DS confirms a moist/humid bathroom is not ideal for medications and adds a risk factor for small children who may be able to gain access with the aid of a stepper meant for the sink.

Sunday my husband took our daughter skiing , so my son and I had the house to ourselves. I had him shred some papers in the office. Then he swapped some old pillows for new ones in the bedrooms. I'll take the old pillows to the local animal shelter.
Found an old pc monitor box in our basement that we no longer need, that will go out for recycling (assuming they come during the snow/sleet/etc.).
I'm working on converting a double closet into a mud room. This will force us to keep it looking nice since the kids won't be able to just hide their shoes behind the closet doors anymore. The doors have been removed and a bench with shoe cubbies has been installed.

I cleaned out the bathroom drawers yesterday. I tossed a very old hairbrush, old makeup, old razer, tubes of miscellaneous gels, bits of paper, and the general grime that builds up in the drawers. They are now reorganized with the things we use everyday.
Today, I went through my nightstand to find quite a few keepsake cards from the kids. I decided to relocate elsewhere. Tossed many pairs of pantyhouse I don't wear, a pair of headphones that are broken, and a broken disney pen. I'm going to hit my closet and at the very least set aside the items I don't want any more. I am losing weight so a few things I might want if I get to my goal weight in a couple months. I know I only wear a small portion of my closet wardrobe...isn't that true of most people.

I'm on a roll today. I decluttered my closet. I found two pieces of luggage we won't use, several pairs of shorts and jeans, a sweater, a dress, a robe, several tshirts that need to go to Goodwill. I also realized I skipped a couple drawers that were in the linen closet and tossed a headband and some halloween makeup.
This decluttering stuff is fun! Actually, I'm considered pretty organized, so I already knew it was fun. I'm letting you know how I'm doing, in hopes you will be motivated, too. It doesn't take much time at all. Remember to commit a little time everyday! If you are snowed in what better time then now?My other blog is Your Organized Friend.

You are so right, CCF! Since I was home today anyway, I made lunch and dinner with things that had to come out of the cupboard. Without the expiration date of the lemon curd coming up, I'd never have made the Rachel Ray lemon chicken, but it was pretty good! I'm going to sort through and take another box of stuff out tomorrow--if we can make it to the garbage and recycling!

Went through a bunch of accumulated mail and magazines after dinner tonight. Most went in the recycling bin. A few things got set aside to take to the office tomorrow and a few items went upstairs to be filed.Steve

I broke down 7 empty boxes (I was saving for ebay sales) for recycling. I did keep a few boxes, but realized I had several shoe boxes and too many of the same size. I'm not even currently selling one ebay!
I tossed quite a few small fabric scraps. My other blog is Your Organized Friend.

I made a somewhat significant decision this morning as I was going through stuff in the kitchen. There is one magazine that I get every 2 weeks. It is a free physician's magazine. I enjoy reading it. In fact, I've had several letters to the editor published in this magazine and even have been quoted, photographed and featured in several articles over the years. The reality, though, is that I simply don't have time to read it regularly. As I was going through the stack of magazines by the kitchen table, I had multiple issues of the magazine that I hadn't gotten to. I decided to just toss them in the recycling bin unread. Perhaps I'll miss some interesting articles Perhaps I'll miss the opportunity to express my opinions on some topics featured. But in the grand scheme of things, it simply isn't that important to my life or career. At least for the foreseeable future, I intend to just toss that magazine when it arrives and not add it to the pile of things waiting to be read.Steve

Did some work (still doing it actually) in the computer room. Cleaned out a carton box that had been on the floor with assorted stuff. Much of it was stuff I wanted but it didn't need to be in a box on the floor. Emptied the box and have started filling it with stuff to give away. The items from the box that I want to keep have been put elsewhere (closet, shelves). I rearranged a bunch of books on one bookcase so that a pile of books on the floor could now fit on the shelves. I didn't actually get rid of any books but when my wife gets home, I'm going to ask her to sort through them as most are hers. I did free up floor space in front of the bookcase, though. I also moved some of her scrapbooking stuff from the center of the floor to under the one desk that we aren't using currently. Again, didn't get rid of anything but helped open up the floor space in the room.Steve

I cleaned out leftovers that were past their prime in the fridge while I got dinner ready. I turned an old t shirt into rags, while doing laundry. I've noticed it helps just to always be on the lookout for things we don't need any longer while doing other things. Also, if I happen across something we no longer use, I have a designated donate pile in the basement. My other blog is Your Organized Friend.

I have a designated donate box near my front door.
Sun paper is read and put into recycle (I buy on Sat). Coupons are clipped and filed. All coupons gone over for expireds and coupons moved to new carrier (bought used at Salvation Army).
It had better warm up enough soon to melt a BUNCH of the snow we got last week. I cannot get to my trash or recycle bins & I am getting quite a bit accumulated.
I am finding myself putting away things MUCH better after use so stray clutter does not gather. I might tend to put it down but then say “self, put it AWAY!”

DS: thank you for leaving DW's stuff for her sort. I know DH would be angry if I chose to discard his stuff. Kudos to those willing to designate 15 minutes each day to de-clutter a surface, floor, counter, vanity, closet, cupboard or pantry. It sure helps to keep a container in the bedrm closet and another in the laundry zone for donations.
