  • Other than shoveling the 12 or so inches of snow that fell last night, I've got nothing to do today as we closed the office. I plan to use whatever energy remains to attack some clutter. I'll report back later.

    • I'm decluttering the office too

Ah, poor Disney Steve and all that snow!
We only had about 3" in Wisconsin.

I've jettisoned a printer at my university office and to make room for a new computer there have come home with an old coffee pot. I'm going to try to find a home for it this weekend.

Several students came by to get papers from last term, so they're gone and I spent an hour or so there culling papers and old assignments. There's plenty more to do....

      • Well, I didn't get nearly as much done as I had hoped. The snow sucked up way more time than I anticipated. I did manage to enter a bunch of Coke Rewards codes that have been piling up. I got through a bunch of e-mails. I also completed 3 medical surveys, earning $125 and some reward points toward a cash payment in the process. At least that partially made up for having to close the office today.

        • We are expecting that major snowfall in our region tonight/tomorrow and anticipating a mobility nightmare. I did the bi annual deep freezer/fridge freezer inventory and am adjusting February's meal plan to use pkgs of roasted meat to use/de-clutter food storage. On cold days I'll make soup, stew, chili, chowder and spicy casseroles. If it stays mild pot pie, Monte Christo, BBQ on a bun, fajita, stir fry, chicken wraps, stroganoff, curry, pasta, Quesedilla type 'planovers' I learned that if I give it a nice sounding name and present meals in a new format from the original...they don't realize they are eating leftovers.

I am a single and constant planover person re: meals. I just get bored eating exactly the same thing more than 2x in the same week. There are also several things I eat consistently each week: couple chicken, couple fish fish, couple cereal, couple cottge cheese or yougurt+fruit, pizza, junk food day..........

            • I've decluttered my entire desk drawers this week! But I'll admit that I did leave one "junk drawer" everything stays organized so much longer if I allow myself one small place for all the misc. items to go. If I don't have that then they just start to spread out and take over the desk again, gah!

              • Today's Success

The useless printer from my university office has moved to the surplus pile. Now that I have a new splitter switch, my office computer will be all ready to roll on Monday!

                • I deleted 430 emails from one account Alot were from surveys from Nov that I don't intend to do anymore. One good thing is that one of my survey companies have gone with another that I do surveys for. The points were added to the newest one. Also got rid of a lot of newspapers yesterday.

                  • I got a magazine in the mail on Fri. It has been read and recycled. I have taken all my W-2’s, 1099-INT, 1099-DIV and 1099-MSC and put them in a spreadsheet so it is easier to see everything and enter for my 2010 taxes. I do keep the actual forms. Still need my W-2 and several 1099-INT/DIV before I can do my taxes.

                    • I was determined to accomplish something today since we had virtually no plans for the day.

I did have to go into the office for a couple of hours this morning but I didn't let that stop me. I used some of the quiet time to go through a bunch of paperwork that I hadn't gotten to during the week.

At home, I folded and put away the linens that DW had washed the other day and got them off the sofa in the sitting room. I also put away everything in the clean laundry basket except for the mismatched socks.

I entered data for one of my monthly medical surveys since the month is almost over and I'd miss out on $30 if I didn't complete that by Monday. Just finished that a moment ago.

                      Entered some Coke Rewards points.
Tidied up my desk a bit.

Not a bad day at all.

                      • I have been really BAD about accomplishing anything this month. I NEED to refocus -SOON. I also have to plan around our possible expected weather this week. We 'might' be in line for a 12" snowfall. That/those will certainly be stay at home days.

                        • I deleted another 161 emails from one of my accounts. It frees up my brain not to have to have all of these emails. Some contain information and others are for a future read. Best to get rid of them.

                          • I finally downloaded a free download that came with a CD I got as a gift so I can throw away the little slip of paper that came with the CD. It was a good example of a far-away deadline killing initiative - I could have done this a year ago!

                            • I've reviewed all the sweaters and pulled those with thin elbows and over stretched ribbing. I planned to make cushion covers but those sweaters were too ugly. Does anyone make [felted] dog jackets? I have a stack of six sweaters that need 'shaving' with a battery op gadget that does a remarkable job removing piling, easy to do while watching TV or on the phone. At the end of the season many sweaters will be trashed.

Went through everyone's sock box, trashed anything thin or sprung [elastic]. Trying to keep numbers to 12 dark, 12 sport socks rotation per person.

                              • I HAD to do a major go thru of my kitchen freezer. Somehow it ate a ziplock bag of veggies leftovers, ends and peels I had been saving to make soup stock. I found a chicken kiev, several small packages of Italian sausage (combined), ¼ bag cranberries, pkg w/2 waffles (breakfast Sun), pkg of faux crabmeat, a ??? that I tossed, a large bag of homemade stuffed shells, 2 servings of basil pesto, and a marinated JennieO turkey tenderloin I did not realize I had.

Top shelf is now mostly cooked & uncooked meat/entrees. Second shelf is chicken, fish, sauces and tacos. Third shelf is waffles, milk and veggies. Bottom bin now has the BIG bags of fries & tots, cranberries, bags of red/orange/yellow quartered bell peppers & 3 bags of strawberries and blackberries I froze when they were CHEAP this past summer.

Still cannot find the baggie of veggies I was looking to find. I did not get rid of much but I have it better organized. Also, as a result of my findings I made version of a Rachel Ray recipe I saw last week using the onions & open bag of chopped spinach I found. There was plenty of the spinach/onion mixture left after I did the chicken breast so I will use w/an egg this am.

Sunday paper read, coupons clipped and filed. Remains into recycle.
