Martin Luther King Jr. Day is a federal holiday observed on the third Monday of January, and in 2026, it falls on Monday, January 19. The holiday honors the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a pivotal figure in the American civil rights movement. While many government offices, banks, and schools close for the day, most major retailers—including Target—remain open.

If you’re planning to use your day off to run errands, return holiday gifts, or redeem gift cards, Target is a reliable stop. Whether you’re shopping for groceries, home essentials, or electronics, you’ll find the store open and fully staffed.

Target Store Hours on MLK Day

Target stores will operate under normal business hours on MLK Day:

  • Monday–Saturday: 7:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. (some locations until 11:00 p.m.)
  • Sunday: 7:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.

Keep in mind that hours may vary by location, especially in smaller towns or high-traffic urban areas. Some stores may open earlier or close later. To avoid surprises, check your local store’s hours using the Target Store Locator (target.com in Bing).

What Services Are Available?

All standard Target services will be available on MLK Day, including:

  • In-Store Pickup: Shop online and pick up in-store at your convenience.
  • Same-Day Delivery (via Shipt): Get items delivered to your door in hours.
  • Starbucks Café: Most in-store Starbucks locations will be open.
  • Returns and Exchanges: Continue post-holiday returns or use gift cards.

Is CVS Pharmacy Inside Target Open?

Yes, CVS Pharmacy locations inside Target will be open, but some may operate on reduced holiday hours. If you need to fill a prescription or pick up medication, it’s best to call ahead.
