Veterans Day is on Tuesday, November 11, 2025. If you have some or all of the day free, you might be considering a shopping trip. If you’re a Costco member, you may wonder whether the warehouse club is open on Veterans Day. After all, no one wants to arrive ready to stock up on bulk goods only to find the doors closed.

What is Veterans Day?

Veterans Day is a federal holiday in the United States, first established in 1919 by President Woodrow Wilson as Armistice Day, commemorating the end of World War I. In 1938, it was renamed Veterans Day to honor all U.S. military veterans, past and present.

When is Veterans Day?

Veterans Day is always observed on November 11, regardless of the day of the week. In 2025, it falls on a Tuesday. While some institutions may adjust observance dates when the holiday lands on a weekend, this year it will be recognized on its actual date.
