How To Find Cheap Super Bowl Tickets

January 27, 2023 by Tamila McDonald

Cheap SuperBowl Tickets

While it’s too early to say which teams are heading to the Super Bowl on Sunday, February 12, 2023, tickets for the event are already available. This year, the Super Bowl is happening at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, and Rihanna is performing at halftime. The cost for tickets through traditional sources is incredibly high, and tickets available for resale usually get more expensive as the game day draws near. If you want to go to the Super Bowl but are worried about the cost, here are some ways to find cheap Super Bowl tickets.

Leverage Your Status as a Season Ticket Holder

If you’re a current season ticket holder for any team in the NFL, you have the best shot of paying face value for Super Bowl tickets. While that’s still potentially expensive, it’s less than what many others will pay on secondary markets.

In most cases, each team holds a lottery to pick season ticket holders that have a chance to purchase Super Bowl tickets. If you’re chosen, take advantage of it to get tickets through a traditional mechanism at what’s usually the lowest offered price through these channels.

Keep an Eye on the Resale Market for Deals

Usually, prices on the resale market aren’t incredibly low, but there are occasionally some deals. If a person who bought tickets suddenly can’t attend, there’s a chance they’ll sell.

In most cases, resellers aren’t going to sell below face value, and many even charge a bit more, depending on demand and the rules of the particular resale platform. Still, there’s some potential for reasonable prices.

Participate in Sweepstakes and Contests

In most cases, the only way to get genuinely cheap Super Bowl tickets is to win some from a sweepstakes or contest. With these, you don’t pay for the tickets. Instead, you’re only on the hook for any taxes relating to the prize, the amount of which depends on your income level and tax bracket.

It’s important to note that some sweepstakes or contests also offer more than just Super Bowl tickets. For example, you may get accommodations, travel, and other costs covered, too. It’s critical to know the full value of the prize to ensure you plan for any income taxes relating to it appropriately. Otherwise, you may get quite a shock when you file your 2023 taxes in 2024.

Do you have any other tips that can help someone find cheap Super Bowl tickets? Have you used one of the options above to find cheap Super Bowl tickets and want to tell others about your experience? Do you think Super Bowl tickets cost too much, even through some of the less expensive approaches? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
