Rising Trends of Remote Working and Digital Nomads in 2022

October 28, 2022 by Susan Paige

The economy has finally turned with the pandemic’s gradual decline. The advancement in digital marketing technologies has improved the growth of remote working trends worldwide. With the rising trends in digital nomads, there is an increase in the remote working population – the estimates predict a total of 1.88 billion by 2023.

The study reveals that people born between 1980 and 2000 are the significant drivers of remote working communities and digital nomadic trends. Generation Y is mainly categorized in this domain. Digital nomads adopt patterns of traditional and temporary living. They cherish a community-based lifestyle. The relaxed work atmosphere induces freedom of selection in like-minded individuals.

There are multiple benefits of remote working, including the following:

Performance: The performance factor remains constant in every sphere. Research shows that employees’ flexibility and autonomy over their work culture leads to 40 per cent fewer mistakes and efficient performance.

Productivity: Remote workers have proven to be 35 to 40 per cent more active and productive when compared to full-time workers working in an office. Productivity is the reason why digital nomadism is on the trend.

Engagement: Remote workers contribute to a 41 per cent reduction in the overall absentee count. This engages more people, and ultimately, work is conducted efficiently.

Retention: Employees often search for flexibility, and remote working offers that. Some of the best cities for digital nomads are structured in a way to reduce employee turnover. On average, the remote work stats have seen a 12 per cent decrease in employee turnover.

Profitability: Employees can save a considerable amount, up to $11,000, in a year. These savings with remote working is beneficial as it increases the company’s profitability.

Digital Nomads: Popular Professions

Digital nomads often work remotely and operate digitally. Their work is flexible and doesn’t require any physical presence. Some of the famous roles that they adhere to include digital marketing, content creators, bloggers, software engineers, designers, writers, etc. Digital nomads depend on vagrant factors, including local attractions, good weather, the number of co-working areas, and easy visa requirements. Apart from this, cost-effectiveness is one of the major factors of the living style and easy access to reliable and fast internet.

According to a study, 80 per cent of remote workers or digital nomads stay in one place for nine months. The past decade has witnessed a significant impact of the pandemic on remote working and has led to a rise in digital nomadism. However, with things falling into place, these nomads have started shifting to a fixed place for working. This calls for a new digital workforce. The co-working space falls right on the site, with multiple professions served on a plate.

Conclusion

The operational characteristics and habits of digital nomads stem from the transformational phase. The structure evolves from the conventional analogue of the work culture to a completely digital lifestyle. Digital nomads specifically emphasize efficient digital tools, working criteria, the freedom to work, flexibility, good work culture, work-life, self-development, and an excellent work-life balance.
