How To Make Your Company More Sustainable & Cost Effective

September 2, 2022 by Susan Paige

Consumers are growing increasingly interested in sustainability when it comes to their purchasing preferences. Indeed, more than a third of global consumers are willing to pay more for sustainable products and services. And as climate change becomes an increasingly worrying issue, this proportion is likely to rise. As such, it’s important that your business can demonstrate its sustainable credentials. Below, we explore how you can make your company more sustainable.

Eco-Friendly Business Model

You should begin by creating an eco-friendly business model. This can help you alter your processes and operations to generate value for your customers without being a drain on resources. You can do this by planning your resource usage carefully. The raw materials you need should be acquired from a sustainable source that doesn’t damage the environment. Plus, you should try and source resources from local producers where possible. Creating this sustainable business model can be complex though: by seeking external help from dedicated ESG lawyers, you can get the most out of this process.

Purely Online Automation

Traditionally, businesses have used a lot of paper in their operations and processes. This uses up a considerable amount of resources and the production of paper consumes plenty of energy. But you can avoid this by putting everything online. By using digital documents, going paperless with your billing and avoiding single-use paper, you can improve your sustainability though.

Remote Working And Promoting Public Transport

Another overlooked part of your company’s sustainability is the energy and resources that your employees use. In isolation, each commute might not seem like a big deal, but when you combine all your employees it becomes important. By offering a flexible working policy, giving staff the chance to regularly work from home you can lower the commuting that needs to be done.

Reduce Energy Consumption

You should also look to reduce energy consumption in your workplace. This can be achieved by adding a smart meter in your workplace so you can track the energy you’re using. Or you can switch to LED bulbs across your workplace as just one strategy for lowering your energy usage.

Boosting sustainability in your business is an excellent way of standing out from the competition and giving your company an edge. This will go a long way in saving your organization on operational costs, especially if you manage a medium sized business or above. All in all, by following the advice outlined, you should be all set to become a more sustainable business.
