Virtual Reality Is Changing the World: Top Spheres Implementing the Technology

September 1, 2022 by Susan Paige

Covid-19 and constant lockdowns significantly influenced people’s pastimes, and everything has moved online. Luckily, technologies don’t stop developing, so nowadays, the virtual world is not limited to the possibility of sending an SMS or getting an email. Multiple innovations have recently hit the world, and VR is one of the most widespread options.

There’s a common stereotype that it is only relevant for entertainment, but we hasten to dispel this myth. So, look at industries where Virtual Reality has already been successfully implemented.

Gaming Sector Has Boomed with VR

Of course, it’s still the most common field of VR usage: it’s predicted that the market value will reach $1.6 billion by the end of 2022. This technology brings fantastic emotions, allowing users to appear inside the game and have a great adventure. It does not only concern computer gaming solutions: numerous online casino sites also offer players such an experience. It seems that this sphere will grow, and products will become even more highly technological so that we will shortly witness more innovative games.

Education Using Virtual Reality

Several decades ago, we couldn’t even think about remote classes, and now offline education is becoming less common. VR allows visiting any place without leaving home, making learning more accessible for people. This is especially relevant for developing countries whose residents don’t usually have the chance to receive a high-quality education.

The implementation of VR by educational institutions allows students to get more practice. For instance, this technology allows following chemical reactions in real-time or reproducing a 3D model of the solar system right before your eyes. Such a method increases motivation in learners since they can enjoy the process rather than simply sitting in dull lectures.

Real Estate Business

The technology is also helpful for realtors. It’s now possible to show the flat or house without the need to visit the object: just wear a VR headset and watch each little detail. It helps to attract more potential buyers and significantly saves time for both parties.

Military Sector

Not so many countries have already come up with the idea, but virtual reality is considered a worthy idea in many powerful first world countries. Virtual reality in the military industry is a great tool for working out the following steps:

  • military simulation and attack plan
  • emergency action algorithm
  • training and training of military specialists

This approach allows you to save resources while gaining high-quality, practical experience. We believe that more countries will adopt this method, which will help reduce the number of military exercises worldwide.

Visiting Live Events from Your Home

Pandemics have significantly influenced all people’s lives, and it seems that we are all used to lockdowns and sitting at home. Even though the situation is improving, online events are still in demand among users. Not everyone has the opportunity to go to another country for a concert of their favorite artist, so why not use VR to visit the desired events? Such emotions are much better than watching live-streaming, so users highly appreciate this technology.

Tourism: Travel Anywhere with Only a Headset

You have always dreamed about visiting Niagara Falls or Louvre but didn’t get such an opportunity? Don’t worry; nowadays, everything is real! For instance, you can download the Google Earth VR app, allowing you to visit any place in the world. Just get a headset and enjoy an immersive walk around the most famous sights.

Marketing & Sales in Virtual Reality

The technology also allowed marketers to improve their activities and increase companies’ performance. Since VR is not yet common in this area, users experience a “wow effect” that prompts them to purchase the product immediately. One of the most common options is the possibility to try on clothes and accessories without the need to visit the offline store. This promising technology is actively used by luxury brands such as Gucci and Louis Vuitton, but we hope we will also be able to test it in the mass market.

Usage of VR in Healthcare

The technology also significantly changed hospitals’ and doctors’ activities. Implementing Virtual Reality in the healthcare sector helped automatize numerous processes and simplify the work. It’s not widespread in the industry, but there are still some impressive cases. The main points where VR comes in handy include:

  • Leading surgeries: 3D data allows the creation of the patient’s model and evaluate all potential risks and outcomes
  • Exchanging experience and teaching students using special simulators
  • Patients’ rehabilitation after injuries and disorders (for instance, strokes)
  • Psychological rehabilitation with controlled and safe methods

The technology is still at the implementation and testing stage, so we hope to see even more progress in the future. For instance, now, scientists are investigating the possibility of proceeding with anesthesia and pain relief using Virtual Reality. Will this development succeed? We’ll shortly see it, and we await new projects with great impatience.
