20 Saving Money Quotes For 2022

January 7, 2022 by Kathryn Vercillo

Saving Money Quotes For 2022

Inspirational quotes can guide us. They can get us thinking about things in new ways. A succinct sentence at the right time can actually change us. With that in mind, here are 20 saving money quotes for 2022.

1. Don’t Let Money Control You

“Money should be ones demand and not command, one should not become a slave of Money because we made money to help us trade and not to make us, we’re already made even without money.” – Auliq Ice

What a powerful thought: “we’re already made even without money.” Money psychology plays a huge role in saving money. Think carefully about how you think about money.

2. Save Money By Bicycling

“When bicycling, you’re simply less likely to make unplanned purchases, especially large ones.” – Elly Blue.

This quote comes from the book Bikeonimcs, which is all about saving money with bicycling. The author explains that if you don’t have a car and only have a bicycle then you really have to think about bulky purchases. Therefore, you’re less likely to impulse buy them. Of course, this isn’t true if you tend to be an online shopper. Nevertheless, it’s something to think about. How can you make it a little more inconvenient for yourself to spend money impulsively?

3. Live You Lived Before You Had More Money

“He’s taken half of our savings,’ said his mother. ‘If we lived without using the savings before,’ said Boaz-Jachin, ‘we can live without the half that he has taken.” – Russell Hoban

Another way of looking at this is to refuse to spend more than you spent in the past. Just because you’re earning more money doesn’t mean that you need to increase your spending. Put it into savings or investments instead.

4. Help Your Future Self

“I used to say why save money if I’ll die tomorrow, I haven’t died yet and I have nothing to survive on.” – Bangambiki Habyarimana

Doesn’t thinking about that make you want to save?

5. Another Way of Saying the Same Thing

“Saving money Today secures, eases, and beautifies Tomorrow.”  – Ehsan Sehgal

6. Of Course, Live, Too

“Saving money is good. Saving dreams is not good.” – Richie Norton

Yes, you should save. Yes, you should avoid spending more just because you start earning more. However, money isn’t the only thing that matters. If you have dreams, you should pursue them. Find frugal ways to do so if you can but don’t be afraid to invest in yourself at times as well.

7. Learn About Money

“Knowledge is everything! Educate yourself about money, investing, and saving.” – Stephanie Lahart

You can always learn more about money. Take your education to the next level in personal finance, investments, cryptocurrency or whatever you don’t yet know enough about. Challenge yourself to become an expert.

8. Work Smarter, Not Harder

“Being instinctively lazy, I see no point in working longer hours just to get out of debt!” – LG Durand

You don’t have to be lazy to want to work less. You might just want to spend more time with your family, on your passion projects and hobbies, doing not-work things. Reduce your debt to free up your time. Keep your expenses minimal for the same reason. And maximize your income by working smarter, not harder.

9. Small Savings Is Still Savings

“Small amounts saved daily add up to huge investments in the end.” – Margo Vader

Try the 26 Week Money Challenge to turn a little bit of weekly savings into saving one quarter of your income in six months.

10. Don’t Waste Money

“Not wasting money is the best way to save money.” – Mokokoma Mokhonoana

It couldn’t have been said better.

11. And Don’t Waste Time

“Many people make the mistake of saving money by wasting time.”  – J.R. Rim

Know what your time is worth. Sometimes it actually saves you money to spend money if doing so saves you time. For example, you might discover that it’s worth it to pay for grocery delivery or housecleaning if that frees you up to do things that earn you money in the long run.

12. Grow Yourself a Money Tree

“Every pound is a seedling.
Invest your seedlings to create a tree.
Re-invest your seedlings to grow a forest.”

– George Choy

13. Go Beyond Saving and Invest

“Saving allows us to survive but investing enables us to thrive.” – Logan Allegianis-Pierce

If you’ve focused a lot on saving but haven’t done much investing then make 2022 the year that you invest. You can start small with investment apps such as ACORNS and SMBX. Or invest in your retirement fund. Or look into ETFs, stocks, etc.

14. View Saving as Fun

“Scrimp and pinch to make ends meet, thought Ramona, liking the sound of the words.”  – Beverly Cleary

Don’t make the mistake of thinking of saving money as an act of drudgery. Get creative with it. Enjoy it. The way you perceive it is the way that you’ll experience it.

15. Delay Satisfaction

“Don’t spend your money on luxuries. Save it and secure a safe future. Don’t crave for quick satisfaction.” – Israelmore Ayivor

Even if you decide that there are luxuries that you want in life, don’t spend on them impulsively. Plan for them. Budget for them. Save up for them.

16. Focus On What You Save

“It’s not how much you make each month that matters — it’s how much you save along with the flexibility and time outside work that you have.”  – Francis Shenstone

The amount that you earn shouldn’t be your sole focus when it comes to money. Look at percentages. Look at all of your values. This includes emphasizing what you can save. For example, taking a lower-paying job that has a short commute may save both time and money even though you earn less in the form of the paycheck itself.

17. It’s Never Too Soon to Start Saving

“Save for retirement. Start from your first paycheck.”  – Chanda Kaushik

If you haven’t started, start now. If the time is right, teach your children.

18. Look At the Numbers

“Never assume that all is well when it comes to your savings or loans. Get a printout to ensure you know exactly what is happening.”  – Tagene Brown-McBean

Don’t assume. Don’t guess. Get familiar with your financials. Review the regularly.

19. Set and Meet Savings Goals

“Financial freedom can only be achieved by a conscious choice. It’s not an accident. It’s not just merely by thinking, it’s through grinding and doing what is necessary to get to that goal.” – David Angway

20. Find a Lifestyle That Supports Saving

This one is my personal favorite of the saving money quotes for 2022:

“Either fill pitchers or live by the river.” – Vineet Raj Kapoor
