Arkansas is a popular retirement destination for many Americans. Not only does it offer a mild climate and beautiful scenery, but its low cost of living attracts many retirees looking to stretch their savings. The Natural State has become so popular that it even has many planned communities that specifically cater to those over 55. Median home prices that are much lower than the national average. Furthermore, it provides several tax breaks on benefits and pensions. So, it’s no wonder why so many retirees flock to Arkansas. Bella Vista

Bella Vista is a diverse community nestled in the mountains of northwest Arkansas. Although it was originally conceived as a planned retirement and recreational community, it has quickly become one of the fastest growing and best retirement communities in the state. In fact, it has grown so much that it even has status as an incorporated municipality with its own city government.

Situated next door to Bentonville and only 30 minutes from Fayetteville, Bella Vista is a place that accommodates people from all economic backgrounds. With homes starting from below $100k, it is a place that offers affordable living options for all price ranges.

Additionally, the small monthly fee grants you access to all the amenities including its seven lakes, three swimming pools, and six golf courses. You can also keep fit using one of its three fitness centers, tennis and basketball courts, or sports clubs. There are also plenty of dining and entertainment options as well. Furthermore, it boasts more than 40 miles of nature trails that showcase Bella Vista’s dedication to preserving the natural forests. With so much do to, this community has something for everyone to enjoy.

Hot Springs Village

Hot Springs Village offers residents peaceful solitude and sweeping vistas of Arkansas’ Ouachita Mountains. Located only 20 minutes from historic Hot Springs and 45 minutes away from Little Rock, Hot Springs Village is easily accessible. As the country’s largest gated community, it also provides services and facilities that smaller communities cannot. In addition to the recreational amenities, it has its own library, community center, performing arts center, school system, and medical facilities.

However, it is the numerous outdoor activities that draw most people to the community. If you enjoy the lake life, residents can go boating or fishing on its 11 lakes and access the water from two marinas. You can also take in the natural beauty as you explore the 30 miles of walking and cycling trails. There are also several clubhouses and sports facilities. Since it is right of I-49, you can easily get to all your favorite stores or find exciting entertainment options just minutes away in Fayetteville.

Arbors at Deer Crossing has no gate or age restrictions, so all are welcome. It is a close-knit community in a quiet neighborhood, but still has plenty of opportunities for social interaction. Visit the clubhouse, fitness center, swimming pool, billiards, card tables, barbecue area, shuffleboard court, or putting green to get out and meet your neighbors.

The community offers homes ranging from 1,700 to 2,000 square feet. So, it is perfect for those looking to downsize and turn over the responsibility of outdoor maintenance. You monthly fee takes care of outdoor maintenance, garbage services, and snow removal so you don’t have to. Although homes here are more expensive than the state average, they also include more services and amenities.

Stonebrook Cove

Located just 40 minutes north of Little Rock in Conway, it is an ideal choice for those 55+ looking for low-maintenance homes. House range from 1,500 to 2,100 square feet with open floor plans. And, the homeowners’ association covers all grounds maintenance so you can spend more time doing things you love.
