Don’t Feel Like Cooking? Here Are the Restaurants Open on Christmas Day 2018

December 19, 2018 by Amanda Blankenship

restaurants open on christmas day 2018
Let’s admit it – cooking isn’t for everyone. Not only that, many people prefer to relax and enjoy their holiday rather than worry about cooking a feast. In fact, a lot more people are dining out on holidays and searching for restaurants open on Christmas day 2018. If you’re looking for a place to get a Christmas day dinner without all of the extra hassles, start here.

Restaurants Open on Christmas Day 2018

Golden Corral – Golden Corral is one of the most popular places to eat on Christmas Day. Many locations offer a special holiday buffet. However, hours may vary by location so check your local Golden Corral for more information and seating availability.

Shoney’s – Shoney’s also offers an all-you-can-eat option Christmas Day. Many locations will serve a Christmas day dinner from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., but hours vary from location-to-location so be sure to call ahead.

IHOP – The International House of Pancakes is open every day of the year, and it will also be one of the restaurants open on Christmas Day. If you’re in the mood for breakfast on Christmas, head on over to your local IHOP (most locations are open 24 hours a day).

Denny’s – Like IHOP, Denny’s will not alter its schedule for the Christmas holiday. Denny’s will be open 24 hours, and you will be able to swing through and grab your favorite Denny’s dish.

Waffle House – Waffle House isn’t necessarily the most conventional Christmas Day food. However, they will be open on Christmas. Like Denny’s and IHOP, Waffle House will be open 24 hours (like every other day of the year).

Sizzler – Select locations will open on Christmas. Call your local Sizzler to find out more information about the hours and the types of food they’ll offer.

Buca di Beppo – Buca di Beppo will be open on Christmas Day for an Italian-American feast for both lunch and dinner. This restaurant will also be taking reservations for Christmas Day (many places do not) to ensure you’ll get a seat for you and your family.

Old Country Buffet (and Hometown Buffet) – Like Golden Corral, Old Country Buffet has the appeal of the buffet-style serving. Most Old Country and Hometown Buffet locations will open at 11:00 a.m. on Christmas Day and close by 6 p.m. They will also offer a special holiday menu.

Applebee’s – Some Applebee’s locations will be open. It is up to the individual store owner whether the restaurant will open or not on Christmas. There is a good chance your local Applebee’s will be open though. Before you plan to head out for your Christmas day dinner, call to confirm the store’s hours.

Panda Express – Some Panda Express locations will also be open. However, it is up to the individual store owner whether your local Panda Express will be open on Christmas day. If you’re planning on dining at Panda Express, you’ll want to give your local store a call beforehand to confirm their hours.

Other Places to Check for Christmas Day Dinner

Don’t forget to check your local Chinese restaurants – many of which will be open on Christmas Day. If you want to chow down on some sesame chicken or lo mein on Christmas, be sure you check with your local Chinese restaurant.

Also, many locally-owned restaurants will be open, usually depending on whether or not the owner celebrates Christmas. You’ll want to call and confirm the restaurant’s holiday hours before planning your meal.

If you don’t feel like cooking this Christmas, have no fear! Many restaurants will be open. Remember to call ahead to confirm hours and whether or not seating is available to save some time. And, most of all, enjoy your holiday feast!
