Ollie’s was founded in 1982 outside of Harrisburg, Pa. The first store opened in Mechanicsburg and the rest is history. Now Ollie’s has 213 locations across 19 of the 50 states.
What has made Ollie’s so popular is the prices offered at its stores. The company purchases surplus merchandise from other retailers and then marks it down (way down). Sales at Ollie’s can vary from closeout sales to discontinued products and even bankruptcy sales.
While all of that sounds great, what are the actual prices at Ollie’s like?
Ollie’s Bargain Outlet Price List
Any store can have the word “bargain” in the title but, until you see the prices, how can you know? Well, Ollie’s definitely has great deals to offer, however, the deals being offered will change weekly. Because the store sells a lot of discontinued and closeout items many of the sales are “while supplies last.” The inventory is constantly changing though so you’ll never know what you’ll find at Ollie’s! You can check the weekly advertisement online or in your local newspaper (usually in the Sunday paper).
Some of this week’s deals include:
- Halloween Costumes 50% to 70% off
- Bissel Symphony Vac & Steam $59.99 (normally $159.99)
- 4-Quart Slow Cooker $14.99
- 12-Quart Paula Deen Stock Pot $29.99
- 16-Count Mucinex $5.99
- Furniture Covers $19.99 (Recliner), $24.99 (Loveseat) and $29.99 (Couch)
- Sheet Sets $8.99 (Twin) to $16.99 (King)
- Quick Dry Bath Towel $4.99
- Medical Scrubs (Tops or Bottoms) $3.99
- Ladies 3-Pack Panties $2.49
- Ladies Fashion Boots $9.99
- Kids Toys starting at $0.99
- Queen Mattress Set $279.99
- Plank Laminate Flooring $0.79 per sq. ft.
- Area Rugs starting at $12.99
- Mini Fireplace Heater $29.99
As you can see, Ollie’s offers a wide variety of items (and there are plenty more items available for purchase in the store that isn’t mentioned above). If you see an item in the weekly ad that you want to buy you’ll want to get to Ollie’s as soon as possible though. Because the company sells items that are part of closeout and bankruptcy sales they may sell out of an item. You can always give you local Ollie’s a call if you’d like to check the inventory on something in particular.
Can You Use Coupons at Ollie’s?
Most bargain stores like Ollie’s don’t accept manufacturer’s coupons and, sadly, Ollie’s is no different. However, they do offer some store-specific deals. For instance, you can get 20% off all home decor items or 15% off all the items in your cart. You can clip these coupons directly from Ollie’s weekly flyer. If you forgot yours, don’t worry! You won’t actually need to clip the flyer to get the deal. Ollie’s will automatically apply the discount. Most Ollie’s locations also have flyers available at the door of the store.
Ollie’s Army Rewards Program
Ollie’s also minimizes your need for coupons by offering Ollie’s Army rewards. If you shop at Ollie’s frequently you will rack up points through your Ollie’s Army card. Sign up for Ollie’s Army at your local store and then begin earning points. It is free to join and you get one point for every dollar you spend. After you gather 250 points you will receive a 10% off coupon through the mail (to whatever address you use to register your rewards account).
Forms of Payment at Ollie’s
Some bargain outlets only accept cash because they are offering closeout sales with no return policy. However, Ollie’s accepts just about any form of payment, including, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, cash and personal checks.
Ollie’s Return Policy
As previously mentioned, similar stores sometimes do not offer any type of return policy, just in case, the closeout merchandise isn’t up-to-par. Ollie’s stands by its prices and merchandise though. As long as you return your item within 30 days of the original purchase you can receive a full refund. You can return the item without a receipt as long as you have a government-issued ID to provide.
The company site does say, however, “Given the huge diversity of our product lines, returns may be limited or declined.” This is in reference to food items and items that have been taken from the package/can not be used. If you’re wondering if your return will be accepted, you can give the store a call.
Where you shop can be a huge part of your ability to save. Shopping at bargain outlets like Ollie’s for everyday items can help you save a ton. Have you shopped at Ollie’s? What was your experience?
