What Time Does Lowe’s Open?

August 21, 2017 by James Hendrickson

what time does lowe's open
When we think of home improvement, other than the hit 90’s television series starring Tim Allen, Lowe’s tends to be one of the first things that come to mind. With hopes for the real estate market in the last year, a little TLC for the house can’t hurt. But, if wanting to get an early start on purchasing all the things you need for such household projects, especially on the weekend, you’ll need to know the chain’s schedule. So, what time does Lowe’s open?

The History of Lowe’s

Founded in 1946 in North Carolina, Lowe’s began as your typical small-town hardware store, according to the company’s history. It was H. Carl Buchan who owned what was then North Wilkesboro Hardware Company with is brother-in-law James Lowe and had a vision of turning it into a chain of hardware stores. Buchan saw promise with a post-World War II demand for building homes and later purchased the company from James. He was able to offer lower prices by dealing with manufacturers himself instead of wholesalers, and focused on selling hard-to-find building materials, hardware, and appliances.

As sales grew, Lowe’s expanded in neighboring towns throughout North Carolina, and in 1961, the company went public. Luckily for Lowe’s, the housing market soared during this time, and professional builders were using the home improvement chain as their go-to for materials. As their customer base grew, they started to cater to the do-it-yourself (DIY) homeowner while still accommodating and providing materials to contractors and professionals in the industry. This called for a new demand: expansion.

In 1994, the modern-day Lowe’s was born, with stores consisting of 85,000 square feet of selling space. In 2012, they made plans to expand even more to 94,000 square-foot stores in lower-mid size selling markets and 103,000 square-foot stores in larger markets.

Today, despite its growth, the company states that it strives to remain true to its core — providing excellent customer service while offering high-quality products at lower prices.

What Time Does Lowe’s Open?

Lowe’s opens at 6:00 AM. When inspiration strikes, it can be hard to not want to be the first in line to purchase all your home improvement needs. So, what time does Lowe’s open? Times can vary based on location, but most stores open and close the same time during the week, with different hours on Sundays.  See below:

Monday: 6:00 AM – 9:00 PM
Tuesday: 6:00 AM – 9:00 PM
Wednesday: 6:00 AM – 9:00 PM
Thursday: 6:00 AM – 9:00 PM
Friday: 6:00 AM – 9:00 PM
Saturday: 6:00 AM – 9:00PM
Sunday: 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM

Some Lowe’s locations do not open until 7 a.m. on Saturdays, depending on demands of the area.  In addition, holiday hours will vary, such as on Christmas and New Year’s; however, during the smaller holidays, store hours tend to stay the same. Because of this inconsistency, it is always best to check your local store hours to be sure.

You can check for Lowe’s open and closing hours per location using the Lowe’s store locator tool on their website or by checking out MyStore411.com.
