Costco’s rotisserie chicken has received fantastic reviews but what about a Costco Chili Review? Well, here are a few thoughts on Costco’s food court chili.
Costco’s Food Court
Costco’s Food Court can be great if you waited until the last minute to go grocery shopping and are hungry. It’s never good to shop on an empty stomach because you’ll usually end up picking up merchandise you didn’t originally plan on buying.
The Costco Food Court also has a great selection of things to choose from. You can grab a salad, pizza, hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken and even ice cream. But what about Costco’s chili?
Costco Chili Review
An item offered on some (not all) Costco Food Court menus is Costco Kirkland Signature chili. When you think of chili you think of a hearty, cheap (yet filling) meal and Costco’s version does not disappoint. They combine ground meat, beans, green chiles, onions and tomatoes with a number of spices to make something truly enjoyable. And, if you’re sensitive to spice, Costco’s chili doesn’t come with a kick. If you’re looking for a bit more spice, you can always add more hot sauce or red pepper flakes.
The best part of it all is that Costco Chili is extremely affordable. You only pay $3.99 for a 16 ounce to-go container of Costco Chili. That is practically unbeatable when comparing it with other pre-made chilis at other stores.
How Does Costco Chili Compare?
To give a complete Costco Chili Review, however, you’ll need to know how it compares to similar chilis. Below you’ll find some of the most similar pre-made chili out there:
- Wendy’s Chili: Wendy’s fast food chain has some pretty good chili for fairly cheap. It has onions, beans, chiles and tomatoes just like the Costco Chili and you can get a large for $2.79 (cheaper than Costco).
- Walmart Deli Chili: Walmart, unlike many other stores, doesn’t have a deli-brand chili. They do, however, sell “Ruth’s Chili” in the deli section. The container is 11 ounces for about $3 (less than Costco but also five ounces less in product).
- Canned Chili: Of course, you can also purchase canned chili instead of pre-made chili at the counter at Costco, Walmart or Wendy’s. Most of these will take a bit more time but you have more variety available to you (with and without beans, veggies, etc.). You can also save a ton of money purchasing canned chili (most cost less than $2 per can).
Out of the three above, however, Costco’s Chili does taste the best. Costco Chili is not available at every Costco location though so if you’re interested in trying the food court’s chili you may want to call ahead and see if it is being offered at your local store. Don’t forget that if you’re going to Costco you should prep a grocery list and be sure to know the company’s return policy just in case.
