Ways to Make Extra Money: What is Foap?

February 3, 2017 by Amanda Blankenship

What is foap
Finding ways to make extra money can be difficult. It seems like all of the good side jobs and gigs are taken or take too much time. Instead of finding a side hustle many people decide to find ways to make passive income instead.

New channels of passive income pop up every day it seems. One of the most recent methods of making extra money is Foap. Many people have been using the app to make passive income. So, what is Foap and how much cash can you earn using it?

What is Foap?

Foap is an application for iPhones that allows the phone’s user to sell their personal photos for cash. It is a lot like other photo licensing sites like Getty, Flickr and Stock Photo. You upload the photos you’d like to sell onto the app and receive $5 per purchased photo.

How to Use Foap

What is foap
Now that we’ve answered the question “What is Foap,” how do you use it? According to many people using the app, Foap is extremely user friendly but it takes an initial investment of time.

To get your photos on Foap you must have an iPhone. The app is for Apple customers only. If you’ve got an iPhone, download the app and upload your photos.

Uploading your photos can be difficult with Foap though. The app will only allow you to upload one photo at a time (probably to prevent people from uploading their entire libraries). Your photo won’t be fully uploaded to the app until you’ve rated five other photos.

Once you rate five photos your photo will be published and rated by five other Foap users. If the average rating of your photo is high enough your photo will be published and people will be able to purchase it.

As previously stated, uploading photos to Foap can take a bit of time. If you are going to take the time necessary to upload your photos you may also want to do a few more things to make your photos more marketable:

  • Before uploading your photos to Foap make a small gallery of about 50 photos that you think would sell. This will save you time trying to find the photos while uploading them to the app.
  • Once you’ve uploaded your photos use correct, descriptive tags. This will be how other Foap users find your photos and buy them.
  • If you aren’t having great luck with Foap there are plenty of tips on how to take great iPhone photos that will sell. Here is great place to start.

How Much Money Can You Make Using Foap?

Using Foap is fairly easy but it can be time consuming (especially during the upload process). So, what is Foap worth? How much time should you spend and how much cash will you make?

Well, it depends on a number of things. Any photo you sell on Foap will earn you $5. Each photo is sold for $10, $5 goes to the company and $5 to you. If you have popular photos that are selling well you can make a substantial amount of money using Foap.

Setting up a Foap account and uploading your photos can take a bit of time but once you start getting the $5 payout for each photo you’ll be glad you did. Watch the video below to learn even more about Foap.

Have you used Foap? What has your experience been with the app?
