The beginning of the year can be a crazy time. Many people are trying to get organized, stay on top of their resolutions and then remember all the federal holidays. Federal holidays are important to remember because usually the banks, post offices and stock markets close on those days. Some stores also close.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the second federal holiday of the year, is on Monday, January 16. Post offices, the stock market and most banks will be closed on Monday, however, it has many people wondering whether their favorite stores will be open. Costco, a wholesale retailer, is a favorite shopping spot for many people. With a holiday just around the corner, many people are wondering, is Costco open on MLK Day?


Is Costco open on Martin Luther King Jr. Day?

Costco will be open on MLK Day. Costco closes on a few holidays throughout the year, but Martin Luther King Jr. Day is not one of them. The wholesale retailer will be open regular hours throughout the week of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Costco closes its doors more than most retailers. Unlike Walmart, Costco closes on Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day and other holidays. Here is a list of the Costco holiday schedule:

January 16 (Monday): Costco is open on Martin Luther King Jr. Day

February 14 (Tuesday): Costco is open on Valentine’s Day

February 20 (Monday): Costco is open on Presidents’ Day

April 14 (Friday): Costco is open on Good Friday

April 15 (Saturday): Costco is open on Easter Saturday

April 16 (Sunday): Costco is closed on Easter Sunday

November 11 (Saturday): Costco is open on Veteran’s Day

December 24 (SSunday): Costco is open, but closes early on Christmas Eve

December 25 (Monday): Costco is closed on Christmas Day

December 31 (Sunday): Costco is open, but closes early on New Year’s Eve

January 1 (Monday): Costco is closed on New Year’s Day 2018

If you are ever wondering about a specific store’s hours of operation, call and ask about the hours. While Costco is open on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, there are some stores that will be closed, so it is a good idea to check the hours of operation on federal holidays.
