Does Costco Sell Ice?

October 19, 2016 by Alexa Mason

Does Costco Sell Ice
If you are one of many Americans that owns a refrigerator without an ice machine you may be looking to buy ice from your local grocer or during your weekly shopping trip. If you are a member of Costco and do your shopping there you may want to know whether or not the wholesale retailer sells bagged ice at its stores. With the company’s reputation for good quality products you may be wondering, does Costco sell ice?

So, does Costco sell ice?

Only some Costco locations sell ice. Not all locations in the United States and Canada carry bags of ice. This is a subject that Costco has been judged heavily on. Many shoppers have to go elsewhere to get ice when they need it. Also, many people believe that Costco could make a killing if they decided to sell ice (especially if they sold it in bulk like many of their other products). Costco ice cannot be purchased online.

Why Don’t All Costco Warehouses Sell Ice?

Some Costco locations sell ice while others do not. This is because of the basic “supply and demand” concept that our economy runs on. If there is a higher demand for ice at a certain location then the company is more likely to sell ice at that location. For example, Costco warehouses that are close to popular outdoor vacation destinations are likely carry it. Decisions by Costco’s local management staff also impact this. The fact that some warehouses sell ice and others do not is the same with other products sold by Costco.

How Much Does Costco Sell Ice For?

Does Costco Sell Ice
Various Costco locations sell ice. The company offers a 20 pound bag of ice for around $1.79. Compared to other retailers, like Walmart or even your local convenient store, Costco has low prices on ice.

  • Costco: $1.79 20 lb. bag of ice
  • Sam’s Club: $3.18 20 lb. bag of ice
  • Walmart: $3.00 20 lb. bag of ice
  • Target: $3.25 20 lb. bag of ice
  • BJ’s: $3.20 20 lb. bag of ice
  • 7/11: $4.00 20 lb. bag of ice
  • Exxon: $3.50 20 lb. bag of ice
  • BP: $4.00 20 lb. bag of ice
  • The Ice Factory: $4.50 20 lb. bag of ice

As you can see, Costco has the best prices as far as a bag of ice goes. Costco also has great prices on many other items. If you shop at Costco regularly you already know the overall savings Costco offers.

If you’ve been wondering whether Costco sells ice or not it really depends on what your location is. Locations throughout the United States and Canada vary on whether or not they sell ice. If you are looking to buy a bag of ice, call your local Costco ahead of time (if that is where you’re headed to shop). If the Costco near you sells ice it is the best place to buy it to save a little money. The telephone number for Costco membership and warehouse locations is: 1-800-774-2678. They can put you through to your local Costco location.

Costco is a great place to shop, especially if you are looking to buy things in bulk or looking to save some cash. If you are looking to purchase a bag of ice, Costco may be the best place to go.
