Sylvester Stallone’s Career
Sylvester Gardenzio Stallone was born on July 6, 1946. He is an American actor, screenwriter, producer and director and is best known for his roles as boxer Rocky Balboa, soldier John Rambo and Barney Ross in the three The Expendables films. In addition to starring in these films, he also wrote or co-wrote most of the 14 films in all three franchises. Stallone also had a hand in directing each of the films as well.
Stallone’s big break in Hollywood was the “Rocky” series of films. He claimed his fame with the starring role in these films. In March on 1975 Stallone saw the Muhammad Ali–Chuck Wepner fight. When he left the fight he went home and wrote the script for “Rocky.” He tried to sell the script to multiple producers but under one condition: that he be the star of the film. “Rocky” was nominated for ten Academy Awards, including Best Actor and Best Original Screenplay nominations for Stallone. It won Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Directing and Best Film Editing. The “Rocky” series went on to lead to the creation of seven more films (all the way up to “Creed,” released in 2015).
In 1982, Stallone starred in another major film franchise. He played Vietnam veteran John Rambo in “First Blood.” It was a huge success and led to three Rambo sequels; “Rambo: First Blood Part II,” “Rambo III” and “Rambo.” He continued work on “Rambo” and “Rocky” sequels through the 1990s and early 2000s as well as various other roles.
In 2010 Stallone wrote, directed and starred in yet another successful action film. “The Expendables” was a huge success and made more than $34 million at the box office its opening weekend. Like the other two Blockbuster hit films Stallone wrote, directed and acted for, “The Expendables” led to a few sequels (“The Expendables 2” and “The Expendables 3”). With such a wildly successful career, what is Sylvester Stallone’s net worth?
Sylvester Stallone’s Net Worth
Through his hardcore underdog roles Sylvester Stallone has become one of Hollywood’s highest-paid actors. Between 1976 (when the first “Rocky” was released) and 1982 (when “Rocky III” was released) Stallone’s salary saw a huge increase. This is also when his net worth became to climb. In 1976, Stallone only made $23,000 for the production of “Rocky.” In 1982 he earned $7 million for his part in “First Blood” and $3.5 million for his part in “Rocky III.” Since then the screenwriter, producer, director and actor has made $4 million or more each year. His highest earning year was 1997 in which he made $60 million for his role in “Cop Land.”
Many of the films Stallone has played a role in he has also had a hand in writing, producing and directing. Because of this, Stallone has also been able to reap the benefits of royalties on many of his successful Hollywood films. This has led to Sylvester Stallone’s net worth of $400 million as well.
In addition to his annual salary as an actor/screenwriter, Stallone also owns a fair amount of real estate. He owns a $10 million home in Beverly Hills and a $5 million lakeside home in California.
Stallone shows no sign of slowing down any time soon either. Although he is 70 years old, Stallone has continued to play roles in wildly successful action films. His latest role was in “Creed,” which premiered in 2015. While he is not slowing down, it is not expected that Stallone will see any huge increase in his net worth in the coming years (unless he writes another amazing, unique script).
