Uber and Magnum are partnering together to deliver ice cream to Uber users on Friday, July 15 in honor of National Ice Cream Day. National Ice Cream Day is always the third Sunday in July, however, the two companies have decided to celebrate a few days early. Uber will deliver Magnum ice cream bars to people in more than 400 cities throughout 69 countries today.
How to Order Ice Cream on Uber
If you’d like to have an ice cream bar delivered to your location, Uber has made it easy. All you need to do to request your ice cream is to open the Uber app on your smartphone. Once you’ve opened the app, set your location and click on the “ice cream tab” or the promotion tab. Select the “instant delivery” option on the app. Orders will be accepted starting at 11 a.m. and go until 3 p.m. in whatever time zone you may be in.
During the hot summer months, ice cream is a go-to treat for many people so demand will likely be high. Uber officials have assured users that they can expect delivery within minutes of submitting their request. The company has said that they have at least 1 million Magnum ice cream bars available worldwide for delivery today at 11 a.m.
Prices for ice cream may vary city-to-city. However, Uber expects the pricing to rest at about four Magnum bars for $10. If you are located in one of the 20 cities where Uber has launched UberEats, you may be able to score your ice cream for free. These cities include Austin, Atlanta, New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Chicago and San Francisco as well as others throughout the world. If you are located in a city with UberEats, you can also opt for a Klondike bar or another type of ice cream.
The most exciting part about the promotion is the way that the ice cream may be delivered. In past promotions, Uber has delivered items in classic cars, cable cars, on Segways, used drones, canoes, speedboats and possibly even horse and carriage.
More Companies Celebrating National Ice Cream Day
Uber and Magnum are only two of many companies celebrating the frozen dessert. Most others will be offering promotions and having events/celebrations on Sunday. Places like Carvel will be offering a buy one, get one free deal for its soft serve cups and cones on Sunday. Baskin Robbins will be donating money to the USO for every ice cream float it sells on Sunday to celebrate USO’s 75th birthday. When you purchase a double scoop throughout the month of July, you can also receive a free upgrade to a waffle cone at Baskin Robbins.
