Another scam brought to you by Appeal to Authority and A Million Testimonials Can't be Wrong!
I appreciate that this forum attempts to go easy on moderation, but please, lock these things. The Ignite scam thread was terrible enough. What's next - a thread devoted to buying over-priced, crappy, whole life insurance? Rescuing Nigerian princes?

Really? if that's the case then why are many fortune 500 companies like Best Buy, Target, Wal-Mart do business with Wake Up Now, and why are many people in WUN are making 5 figures a month with just a 100 dollar investment? You said its a scam, prove it! I don't think you can.Originally posted by bjl584 View PostThere are countless companies out there like this. Stay away. Odds are you will lose a lot more money than you ever make.
OP, if you are looking for additional income then go get yourself a part time job. Someplace that you can physically go to, do actual tangible work, and get a real paycheck every week. No strange monthly fees, no signing up other members, no arbitrary online presence.

All you need to know to stay away from this company is their own literature about how much people are earning who do this

80% of the people who join make $0.00, so they actually lose money since they have to pay to be part of it.
Of the 20% that do make money, half only make $40 in commissions for the entire year. That means that 90% of the people who join this scheme lose money.

Not A Scam PPL
I can personally vouch for Wake Up Now as I have my own business with them. There are no "secrets". I will share anything you would like to know. I can answer any questions you all have. I am making money. Already got my investment back and I am making money now. All of you are just misguided or lacking knowledge of the company.

Ugh
It's always interesting that no matter what panel you ask there are always the same people expressing the same opinions. Baby Nurse to play the "common sense" and "logic" card is really just an implication on yourself. For those promoting and pushing the recruitment agenda it would be smart to speak rationally and with actual data and not just the numbers that you count late at night while thinking of all the neat things you're going to do with the money that you're going to earn from everyone else's work.
I hesitate to do this because I don't even enjoy commenting on ridiculous go nowhere pissing contest threads but if anyone cares here's what I know....
I hate MLM's. Their methodology and procedures border on ridiculous and illegal. The very suggestion that I will get rich off of recruiting someone else to recruit is offensive and short sighted. I also hate "opportunity" meetings... Geez. Pictures of people leaning on sports cars wearing ice cream suits being all attractive makes me sick to my stomach.
Now, the interesting part. A very good friend introduced me to WakeUpNow as a product because he knew I would tear him apart if he tried to recruit me for some damn opportunity to ride the backs of other like minded folks to financial freedom.
The product is $24.95 a month which was a very little risk to me so I agreed to check it out.
As it turns out the product that I was given was worth the $24.95 a month. The finance software I use regularly still. It is a slick tool that integrates with my bank accounts and kicks out reports and expenses that I can watch and use to manage my families finances better and it really didn't require any additional work. It is much like Mint but having used both I still prefer the WakeUpNow one. The next product was what they call the TaxBot. The program is $20 retail monthly on it's own but I found it for $10 on some other websites. I was genuinely surprised that this product was as useful as it turned out to be. It was easy to use and for a guy who hates to track receipts and expenses it was a blessing to not have to sweat at tax time on whether I should take deductions that I couldn't document. The grocery coupons, online discounts, free crap, magazines... actually I didn't think I'd appreciate the magazines but they were ok too... anyway all the rest of it was kind of a trash bag of crap as far as I could tell and I really had zero interest in it.
The meat of the deal it turned out was the "premium" deals area which I used a bunch of restaurant coupons and the only Disneyland discounts I could find anywhere! The Disney discount which I spent hours looking for outside their program to no avail saved me $180.00. The other real regular value was the cell phone discount. My bill is over $300 a month but I already had a 15% discount but since theirs was 22% I switched it and that cut my bill about $19 a month.
I haven't tried the vacation junk although it's there.. There are some prices that interest me but I just haven't been looking that hard for a discount vacation I guess.
I'd say all in all though for $24.95 a month I probably saved $50-$60 a month after I broke it all down. That's not a huge savings but it's not a kick in the crotch either.
As far as recruiting and all that foolishness I still have zero interest in it... They do offer me $10 a month residual for everyone who I sign up for $24.95 though so that's kinda cool. I have a couple friends who I told about it so I guess I'm up another $30 a month and for a guy who wouldn't join an MLM if his mother started it I'd say it's not a bad little operation.
Oh yeah I forgot to tabulate the savings from the tax and finance software... That is well worth the money and honestly better products than the free stuff that's out there but it only has value if you use it and if you care about that stuff. Being a finance guy in career and aptitude it was interesting to me so I have saved significantly using it and I think my accountant was pretty happy that I could prove everything too.
Anyway... I don't know if this helps anyone or frankly if anyone here cares but that's the truth from a true blue hard core skeptic.

No. Some of us are blessed with common sense and logic. We don't need to fall for a scheme before recognizing it for what it is.Originally posted by sake View PostIsn't it important to try something before being negative about it?

WakeUpNow is changing lives, even tho i'm only making $600 a month right now from the company ($2500 by August), on top of saving $100-$200 extra from regular spending, it has truly made a way for me to save a ton every month, while making money by sharing with others.
I work 2 jobs which I hate, my brother wants to go to private school for 9th grade, but my mom doesn't have the money. $600 is enough for me to help my brother get in private school. Call it what you want, pyramid, MLM, whatever. I work a 9-5, which is a pyramid. CEO, Manager, all the way down to the employee who works so hard just to get paid $7.50.
Call it what you want, but i'm on my way to financial freedom. You can have that 9-5 life.
Not sure if its okay to share the opportunity on here, but if $600 a month can change your situation right now, i'd like to know.
Of course you are.

This is where you are vitally wrong. They are making that much because they are the founders. If you "just listen" then you aren't doing yourself any favors -- you should never just listen. Always look at the numbers, and their own numbers say that nearly everyone loses money (except for them).Originally posted by MikePorter View Post... when people are making 5k-8k a month, you don't talk...you just listen.

Simple answer: NO

Look at all of the posters that claim it's a great deal. They have 1 or 2 posts on this forum. They are most likely employees or spokesmen for the company and are trolling the internet looking for opportunities to talk up the company.Originally posted by 00000 View PostThanks you for all the replies. I didn't realize that my questions was going to start quite the commotion that tit did. I'm not understanding why it seems to be so black vs white in the responses. Why does one group view it as a scam and the other group as a great opportunity? It really can't be both, right?
Now look at the posters that are telling you to stay away. Most of them have hundreds or thousands of posts here and have been members of the forum for years. Most of them have their finances in order and have a proven strategy to build wealth.
Who would you rather listen to?

Actually, you were the one who brought up what an employee pays to Uncle Sam. In order to take the business deductions, you actually have to spend the money ON THE BUSINESS. And those expenses need to be legitimate costs of running the business. Also, while you are self employed, you actually pay more in Self Employment tax than a regular employee pays in their FICA and Medicare because the employer pays 6.2% and 1.45% towards each.
As for losses, any one with two brain cells to rub together knows that business and personal assets are insured separately. No one expects their business insurance to cover the loss of items purchased with the profits of said company for personal use any more than an employee expects their company's insurance to cover them if they lose their own house in a fire.
None of your argument makes any sense. Nor does any of it support why someone should get in to an MLM scheme.

Where did I mention not to pay your taxes? I didn't say don't pay your taxes. You owe taxes, yes pay them! My point I was trying to say...be an IBO for a minimum fee to take advantage of tax deduction rights vs being a non-business owner. Non-business owner are losing money everyday just for not being a business owner and not taking advantage of tax privileges.Originally posted by lorraineb View PostUmm, you do realize you have to pay these taxes whether you earn the money on your own or if you work for a company, right? Worst argument ever...
Now, if you own a store of some sort, yes it's the same concept with tax advantages but you don't have to be a rocket-scientist to figure out liabilities that come with it. Products get stolen, you need security setup. Even your security setup can get stolen. You'll need proper insurances that also include fire-loss protection if your not already properly covered. Even double check if you are covered at all. You work by yourself so you can reap the profits? Damn...you just created a new job for yourself! Who's going to cover you on the days your ill? A family member or close friend who has little experience with a cash register or computer? That also includes them as being an employee and by law you have to pay them something. It's not just a "favor" anymore. You have to open that store up and close up yourself everyday to make sure everything goes right. Face it, it's a prison cell. Business can get slow. I've had a friend who owned a successful restaurant. He had bought his home, cars, furniture, clothes, etc. with the profit from his business and it went up in smoke just to find out he wasn't covered for fires. Maybe an incoherent employee was to blame...who knows. What do you do now? It was a total loss and did not get a penny! Insurance companies can be sneaky. In the long hual, my friend became a MLM IBO and surpassed the double the profits his old restaurant was giving him. Just my $0.02 but please take it with a grain of salt.Last edited by Bortek02; 06-16-2013, 04:52 AM.
