I didn't notice, Like everything else in life you need to work at it. People mistakenly have the belief that working online is easy.

People mistakenly have the belief that working online is easy.
I've never in my life had a job that was 'easy'. I have had jobs that were very hard but I enjoyed what I was doing very much. Enjoying what you are doing takes away so much from the fact that it requires 'work'.

Agree
Totally agree
Books such as the 4 hour working week say they're selling a dream of freedom, when in reality they preaching greed. Something for nothing is not the point. To make money online you need to have something to offer/say and as previous contributors say, that's no easy feat.Last edited by George707; 08-05-2014, 01:44 AM.

I read that book out of curosity. The only one getting a 4-hour work week was the author, since he proposed hiring people to do his 'work' for him! Generally we are talking people from 3rd world countries that will work for peanuts. His book may have been more believeable if his 'employees' were also given 4-hour work weeks as he kept saying anyone can do this, just shift your load onto someone else. You are so right it is greed. The only product that I can remember him having is his book. Those kind of books generally never reveal what kind of job you can do for just 4 hours a week and still make more than enough to live on. Can you imagine a farmer saying 'well I'm only going to work 4 hours this week"! Those poor cows that would need milking, or the weeds taking over. Or even a school teacher thinking they should only have to work for 4 hours although I do recall in 12th grade my English teacher's basic job was being the football coach and I didn't learn much that year in that class. He covered aobut a month's worth of work in 9 month's.
There is a biblical principle in work and although I haven't studied every religion, although I'm sure most of them have the same type of thing in their 'Bible'. It is: If a man won't work, neither let him eat. Lazy people looking for the lazy way to make money aren't ever going to succeed.

I had a great experience writing for eHow.com. For a 400 word how-to guide, I would be paid $15. I was able to pick whatever topics interested me from a very large bank. So yeah, I spent a summer of unemployment making $130 - $200 per week just writing guides about video games.
The only catch is that you have to deal with an editor, so you have to make sure you can dig up a solid source or two; otherwise, the editor might reject the piece.

DB1000 for what you are doing to try to manipulate posts so to post a referral link or whatever you are trying to do you should be banned from this site (and be asahamed of yourself as well). Posting a post that only counts down how many more posts you need to put in a signature line is ridiculous and not at all helpful.

I completely agree with you on the ads though. First and foremost, you need to be accepted by Google. Once accepted, you then need to have a huge following in order to make enough from the small amount of people that will actually click the ads. Achieving this in a few days is not really feasible.

As someone that has been an online seller for years at this point, I have noticed that the worse a person writes on a forum the more trouble they have selling because their listings are written in the same poor grammer and spelling way. Thus my take on most people's ability to write a money making blog. If other sellers suggest they work on this area we have been told off, told that is how I write lump it, and various other assorted reasons why they won't change or even attempt to change and then continue to moan about no sales from listings that look like the average 3rd grader might have written. Many people no longer have the writing skills that teachers of old used to pound into students. Texting has brought about laziness in writing as well.
I've tried to make forum posts be a good practice at writing well and sensibly, but that doesn't mean I make the grade myself. I battle with dyslexia and some words I consistently spell wrong or mixed up. It all comes down to earning money on a blog, enough to live on, takes a tremendous amount of clear, logic writing in conjunction with Google Adsense ads and affliate links. I've seen way to many people here and other places that say you can earn money with a blog, but one rarely hears what has to go into the blog to make mooney. I suspect most of the ones suggesting it don't have a blog or at least a money making blog, although I would be happy to be proved wrong

You make some excellent points and I agree that the majority of people that recommend blogs as a means of earning online are just posting that because they know it has been done and not because they have done it themselves.
However, there are plenty of other methods of making money using blogs that can earn you a living online that do not require a high level of writing ability.
Example (complete hypothetical in this case but is a popular method at the moment):
Someone could create x different blogs that offer x different niche products. These could be cheat codes, hacks, giveaways etc etc. People then visit these sites and have to complete a CPA offer to obtain the product. All they are giving is their time to complete a survey. The owner gets paid, the user gets his product (hopefully, unless the marketer is black hat) and they repeat this for x number of websites.
Some of the most successful blog earners don't own the hugely popular blogs that you are used to reading about, instead they own multiple small niche blogs that earn a combined income.
You don't always have to be the smartest cookie, you just need to work the hardest.

I have started a website with this purpose and can tell you that it is not easy but it works if you work it. I did not know anything about website building but the company I chose to build my site is very step-by-step in teaching you how to do it. I have met people using this system that are making 4 and 5 figures per month with their site(s).
Again, it is not easy and it is not quick but then again nothing worthwhile is. No real business will be quick and easy but I know for a fact it can be done.

you can't really make a living online these days. but you could make coffee money from ptc sites and others
The problem is lack of committment on some peoples part and the lack of desire to follow the rules of a site, and the lack of sticking it out. I didn't make daily sales when I first started selling, I didn't even make weekly sales, but eventually I averaged about 3 sales a day (my goal is to average 6 a day). I stuck it out, and learned and improved my business model. You also can't believe all the stories that you can make oodles of money doing affliate marketing. It takes more than a website to earn money that way. You need to have traffic to that site and convince people of click on those links and hopefully buy the product.
