  • My daughter's portfolio

My daughter told me yesterday that she updated her financial spreadsheet and she's got over $92,000 in savings and investments. Even I was a bit surprised by that number. That means she'll hit 100K sometime this year. Not bad at all for a 28-year-old.

She doesn't always listen to her father but at least when it comes to money management she has.

    * Why should I pay for my daughter's education when she already knows everything?

That's a great Proud Dad moment! Kudos to her, and her parents

Does she have plans for it? Or is it forever-savings/ retirement money?
    History will judge the complicit.

About half is retirement money in her Roth and 401k. The rest is EF and general savings not earmarked for anything specific at the moment.

          Nice work.
I can't remember where my portfolio was at her age, but close to $100K at that age is impressive.

I wasn’t even close. At 28 I was still in residency with 100K in student loans. My net worth was in the negative by 6 figures.

Impressive. I'd probably provide similar feedback for both of my kids - that is, they don't always listen to me but do seem to pay attention when it comes to money matters.
