That was a stupid idea from day one. I still don't understand what it was supposed to accomplish.Originally posted by FLA View PostI went to a medicare seminar and the donut hole is set to expire in 2020, yay!
Let's pay the bills until we've spent a certain amount and then totally stop paying bills and make the patient pay until they spend a certain amount and then we'll start paying again.
Instead, they could have had a copay or coinsurance amount all along. Like they would pay 80% and the patient would pay 20%. That way, the end result could be about the same but the patient wouldn't get hit with a huge bill all at once. They'd pay a little over time.Steve

Disney has done a great job of eliminating the slow seasons by creating special events, offering discounts, and doing other things to draw people in at what used to be quiet times. There really isn't much of an uncrowded time any more. Still, I'm hoping this week is relatively quiet. We're only there for 3 days before leaving on a cruise.Originally posted by MooseBucks View PostAnd to think my wife promised me it wouldn't be crowded this time....I'll be the guy pretending like I don't want to be there.Steve

Generally, people pick the option with the lowest premium.Originally posted by LivingAlmostLarge View PostIf we had an HDHP option for $109 and the PPO was $400-500 a month i'd take it. But having had HDHP for $650/month and now employer provided for PPO for $250/month I'll take the PPO.Steve

In my opinion, what they wanted to accomplish was to make people choose to go to the doctor less often.Originally posted by disneysteve View PostThat was a stupid idea from day one. I still don't understand what it was supposed to accomplish.

$134.84 a Month. Hubby & I. Per pay period
Myself -Medical, Dental, Vision, Accident, & Death Coverage
Husband-Dental, Vision, Accident & Death Coverage (NO MEDICAL)
Costs—http://i1315.photobucket.com/albums/...pstarccj4e.png
I have one job but two employers so am double covered for most things. The County Indemnity Plan pays 1,2nd, 3rd or whatever behind Kaiser. Second employer, Vendor of the State provides Medical, Dental, Vision and Accident just like the Indemnity Plan does. But it costs more.
I use an Indian Health Clinic so generally only use the Indemnity Plan & Dental Insurance (which they bill). Being Native American, that would be free to me anyhow.
$10 month.- Indemnity Plan 2.-(myself only)-Includes Medical, Dental, Vision, Accident, Death
$17.50 Medical per pay period (Myself only)- Vendor of the State- Kaiser
$24.02 Dental (hubby&Me)- Vendor of the State- Separate Plan
$2.28 Vision (Hubby & Me)- Vendor of the State
$11.62 Accident (Hubby & Me)-
———————
$65.42 Per pay period/$130.84 month.
Vendor of the State
Kaiser Silver 70 HMO 1000/30 - $17.50 Per pay period MYSELF ONLY
Dental& Vision- $24.08 Per pay period. Hubby & Me

Accident-Dismemberment- $11.62 Husband & I
County Indemnity Plan- Me only. $10 month (Plan 2)- Medical, Dental, Accident, Death.
Prescriptions- ($10/$30) Myself only
Medical Services-Myself only
Dental/Vision-Myself only
Death/Accident-Myself only
Husband is going without medical insurance for a few years. We aren't getting a subsidy though we qualify.Last edited by Outdoorsygal; 11-30-2016, 11:50 AM.

Costs will go down slightly in March 2017 because Employer is paying 90% of Health Care Premiums instead of 85%.
They did not offer the HDHP +$275 a month to fund it this time. It's a 401K instead. Specifics to be announced soon in December. Rats!!Last edited by Outdoorsygal; 11-30-2016, 12:00 PM.
