My point is just that what one person calls small, someone else calls big. That is all. Just as others were saying - so agreeing with them.

I am used to living in a house (with 3+ bedrooms), but not used to having a basement or much land.

Same right now I think we're pretty lucky to have our own house finally with 2 kids. So my head did a double take when she said they let it go because it was too small. I thought what we have is more than enough, granted I would like more but it's a want and I realize it not a need.

She said they are cashing out company stock to put down. And his bonuses will help. It's still pretty crazy.

I have a "smaller" house. It's 1300 sqft 3bd/2bth on just under 1 acre. When I bought it the loan officer said it was a great "starter home," which made me feel like I wasn't really accomplishing anything. I've never liked the phrase starter home. That's like saying working at Walmart or flipping burgers are just starter jobs. I know several people who made decent money(40k-50k+) being managers at those "starter jobs." There will always be a bigger house somewhere, but it will come with a bigger payment to boot. I'm not interested in that and come this December we will have 4 kids with us in this house. If we end up moving I will try to find a 4 bedroom house, but right now I'm not looking. It will be cramped, but my grandparents did the same thing but in reverse. I have 1 girl and 3 boys (one is due Dec 6), but my dad was the only boy with 3 girls in a 3 bedroom house almost the exact same size. Life will go on and I'm sure my kids won't be scared because they didn't have their own room. From 6 years old until I was in my mid-teens I shared a room with my older brother in a smaller 2 bedroom apartment. I don't have mental issues from it...I don't think..

My father grew up in a 1038 sq ft household of 12. Not uncommon back then to have a very large family in a small house.

It actually is very common. My mom grew up in a studio with a family of 6. One room shack. No water or toilet. So I guess everything else is a luxury. My grandmother liked to stay with us because we had indoor plumbing.

Another friend one I blog about sometimes called Mrs A is going down in BK flames. Sigh. Sometimes there is nothing you can do but give support.

She's getting divorced and hasn't worked since Kid #1 whose 7. But instead of getting a job as a counselor (for addiction), she's just working as a yoga instructor. That's okay except she keeps spending money. She sent an email to friends saying

So I told myself I wouldn't be buying any costumes this year,
until I went on this super posh website. (Chasingfireflies.com )
Their costumes are at a price point that would have
Alan Ginsberg index stroke his famously analytical chin..that is....
until you search their "sale" stuff. That's where all the magic happens✨...
that's where your Wallet unfolds itself and your Credit card mysteriously
floats out like the Phantom Menace, or
Denis the Menace..either analogy will work.

Anyhoo, below is a copy of my order, I got D a superhero cape
personalized with the words "Super DD" it was 14.99.
take a moment and chezch it!

Do you actually say to someone whose 38 living rent free in her mom's duplex stop spending money! Start working and pay for your divorce from your cheating SOB. He's been having affairs off craigslist. I swear this is real and not a made up story.

Who puts themselves on craigslist for sex?! That's just trashy. I'm sorry she has faced that.

If you have mentioned about budgeting before to this person and they didn't absorb any of it then you can't do anything. Trying to say something will make them mad and if you keep trying they will mentally block you. I have just stopped trying to help my family with their money. They don't listen. My aunt just borrowed 10s of thousands to fix up a trailer to remodel it. She borrowed the money to buy the trailer from a family friend, and then fixed it up on credit cards. She said her credit score just tanked 150 points. What can you do but just shrug it off and go on.

Actually I suggested borrowing money to get divorced. She's unable to "get money to retain a lawyer." After she caught him the first time cheating she still took him back for the money. I guess it's too hard to go back to work and file for divorce. And yes it's disgusting trolling on craigslist for people. Lowest of the low.

So my DK2 classmate her parents put an offer in on a house. The problem? Well for starters they had a short sale in 2012. And less than 4 years later they are buying again with 5% down payment and borrowing a 1st and 2nd mortgage. The mortgage company is counting on the company stock as part of their valuation. And her answer to me was "oh well in 18 months to 2 years we can pay off the 2nd mortgage as the stock vests. Who has 20% down anyway? And we can afford the monthly payment."

I knew this was happening and I have to say I'm really surprised they allowed it. I don't know how they can afford it. The house they bought was also $1.05M and $50k over their "top" end of their budget $1M. And then I nearly collapsed when she said and we waived the home inspection contingency. Best thing would be if they can't get the loan.

                    Insane.

Good point. Someone should introduce these girls to tinder and ashley madison.

This is really the problem. There need to be better lending regulations to prevent this crap.

actually they allow your stocks unvested to be collatorolized. So you are basically turning over your stock in 1st lien position and then they can take it if something happens. A friend who does mortgages explained to it me. And he said it's happening again like 2007 since he's done mortgages since 2000. People aren't doing crazy arms and interest only but they are doing 0% DP and betting on never making less money or stocks not going down. He said something isn't right.
