  • What subscription plans do you guys have?

I'm curious what subscription plans do you guys have? How much are they monthly or annually?

    Costco Executive $120/year
Spotify - $10/month = $120/year - this is my DH refuses to give it up, includes hulu
Cell Phone T-mobile $80/month = $960/year, pretty cheap plan for 2 of us, 2 tablets, and a 3rd line. My BIL has a 4th line and gives us $40/month so our plan is $120/month for 4 lines, unlimited talk/text including international, and 10 GB data a month per line and rolling up to 20 GB.
Internet - $50/month, intro plan will likely go up
    AAA - $120/year

I guess we could cut our cell phones to Google Fi to maybe 18/line plus $10/GB of data. we might save a few bucks. And if I could get my DH to give up spotify

We don't pay for netflix or disney+, we did pay for CBS all access for 2 months to watch picard but cancelled. We paid for 2 months for HBO to watch silicon Valley then cancelled. but overall our subscriptions aren't as much as one would think.

What do you guys have and pay for which services?

    AAA 108/year
Chase Sapphire Reserve 550/year - debating about downgrading to Preferred 95 in Aug
    Costco Executive 120/year
LA Fitness 32/month - I also use employer HRA 300 back per year, so it pays for almost 10 months
Mint Mobile 180/year - 3GB data per month since I never go over

Costco Executive: $120/yr. We do probably half of our grocery shopping there (plus other stuff), and the 2% rebate covers this cost many times over.
Cell phones: $80/mo ($960/yr), 2 lines, on a shared unlimited plan with my brothers.
Internet: $100/mo ($1200/yr). They gouge you for internet up here in AK.
Basic Netflilx: $9/mo ($108/yr). Reduced from the ~$12 plan when Disney+ launched.
      Disney+: ~$4/mo? (~$50/yr?). Don't recall exaclty... I got the early pre-launch 3-yr deal, so I think I paid ~$150 for 3 years -- quite happy about that one.
A few AMEX CC's (AMEX Platinum, Blue Preferred, Delta Platinum): $0/yr. AMEX waives the annual fee for active duty military.

That's about it for us... I hate everything about subscription things, partly because I know how easy it is to forget about them while having them still drain your accounts. We've used various things in the past that push subscriptions, but we try to do only one-off purchases or track (with reminders) when they are gonna renew & cancel them if unused. They're the modern day magazine subscription that you never read.

        Cell Phones = $50/mo ($600/yr) total for 2 adults
        Economist Magazine = $176/year

interesting that so many people don't have a lot of the subscription services.

I think it's kind of vague to ask about subscription services. If my cell phone counts does my water bill count? They're both utilities. So is internet service? What about our land line? We belong to a gym so that counts. We have an alarm system with central monitoring so there's that. Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime, AAA, TIME magazine, AARP, the list goes on and on. What about the fee we pay to have our lawn mowed each month? Do you count that as a subscription service?

SiriusXM. I've been a subscriber since XM started years ago and of course it's a merged company now Sirius. I've been paying $35.40 a month for 2 vehicles (family rate) which I find too expensive even though I can easily afford it. I tried calling last year about getting a lower rate and even threatened to cancel but they said sorry, take it or leave it.

Even though I'm not financially affected by the virus situation, I called last week and told them I could no longer afford the service. They immediately offered to drop my family rate to $12.12 per month. Literally almost a 2/3 savings. I of course excepted the new rate. Unfortunately in the long run I don't think this company will last long at those margins, they were hurting financially even before this current situation.

I'm curious as to when people say belt tightening cut your subscription services to help "save money." This stay at home has been truly an exercise in savings. I mean yes we don't eat out but then there are other things at least for us to spend on.

I can't really look up the prices right now, but we have a fair amount:

                      HBO Now
                      Netflix
                      Hulu
                      Amazon Prime
                      YouTube TV
                      Popular Science Magazine
AAA (but I just cancelled that so after this year it will go away)
                      Spotify Family

We cancelled cable recently and picked up YouTube TV since we were already paying for the other subscriptions anyway, so that way it's saving us a bit! Thinking about maybe cancelling HBO Now, but not sure. And honestly I think there are some package deals out there for several of these services so we probably need to look into those to combine things and save a bit.

I'm spending a lot more at Home Depot than usual.

                          We have:

                          AAA
                          Amazon Prime Student
Disney+ (prepaid the 3 year deal, then I'm done)
                          Netflix
and because I discovered Outlander during this pandemic I had to sign up for 3 mos of Starz at 5.99/mo so I can watch the current season, damn good show!! I'll be cancelling the end of May after 2 mos.

                            We have
                            TUG (timeshare users group)
                            AARP
                            AAA
                            Costco
                            Tmobile (cell phones)
                            Verizon (internet)
Amazon Prime-$119. Next renewal in Feb it goes up to 139. We watch very little content on this venue because most movies require additional payment, but we get a lot of packages delivered.
Netflix $4.74 (for multiple sets--it's discounted through our TMobile plan)
HBOmax 104.99/year (Just signed up for 1 year no commercials intro rate -next year renewal 149.99)

                            Just cancelled:
D23- $99.00/year. Complete waste of money.
hulu-was 1.00/month, but next renewal it would go up to $7.99/month (I think that was with commercials.)
AppleTV: was 4.99/month, but next month's renewal it would go up to 6.99/month
Disney+ we paid 140.97 for 3 years. Renewal comes up in Nov--renewal rate of $79.99/year.

                            Thinking about signing up for
                            Paramount or
                            Peacock
(If we can find a deal)

Last year I canceled Washington Post, New York Times and Wall Street Journal (electronic copies).
The only one I really missed was the WSJ. If I can find another deal I will probably sign up for WSJ again.
