  • How many of us have a side gig apart from full time job?

I officially started my side business for developing websites last year. It was fairly slow last year only a few sites, but I was okay with it. However, for 2013 I have already 4 new projects on the table. Even had to tell two clients that I won't be able to break ground for a couple months because of other work! Really excited for what 2013 will bring!

All going right into savings for a new house I'm looking to purchase this fall.

I have a part time job. I have, however, gave serious thought to quitting that and pursuing my own small business on the side. I've had tons of ideas about what I'd like to do and how to go about it. Right now it's all just in the planning stages.

I do medical surveys and market research programs. I average about $600/month. I write about it in my blog.

Due to a project at work I logged 133hrs last pay (bi-weekly). So does 53hrs of overtime count as a second "gig"?

I'm self employed and have a part time job on the side. The part time job is a leftover from my previous career, before I started working for myself. I like that it keeps my resume fresh in that field, in case I need to ever go back there. And the extra money is nice.

              My vote is yes.

I used to have steady freelancing (graphic design) income but that stopped when the economy tanked, which was okay because we were starting a family. My wife used to work until about 7 or 8 at night so I always had a few hours to do extra work. But the kids came and I'd rather spend my time that way.

When I was younger I reffed soccer on the weekends and got paid "handsomely" for it. $20/hour for as many as I could work. Nice side gig.

This year, my side gig is probably going to be coaching soccer.

I do, although I wouldn't call it a "gig". Almost like a 2nd full time job, which fortunately can pay like one too.

We don't have any real "official" side gigs, but always seem to have some decent side income streams. My work is seasonal so there is extra income/OT every spring, my spouse does ebay sale - these days more on amazon, and the credit card rewards have been significant for past 2 years. All that stuff really adds up to some nice side income.

I student taught piano through college, and when my kids are a little older I am considering ramping that back up again. If I found 4 students, could be a solid $400/month bump to income.

I run my blog on the side which is more of a hobby than a real side gig. I guess I could do taxes but it isn't worth it to me. I'd rather do what I enjoy and try to make it that way because the side gig money is just extra for us.

Besides full-time job and sometimes school, I did bartending part-time off and on over the last several years, I did mystery shopping for about 4 years, and sold Avon on the side for about 4-5 years. 2012 was the first year I decided to "not do anything extra" (we'll see how that affects my taxes ), and this year/2013 I am undecided (probably until I do my taxes ). I know I work full-time, and I'm back in school now again, but I still feel a little "lazy"...

No but I really want to start a second income. I'm on the road currently for work. Soi spend an average of 35 hours a week in a hotel. I wonder if regular online surveys would be ok or worth it. Any ideas?

Lots of busy bodies on our forum! I am an event planner (business meetings, etc) for a private company as my day job. On the side, I do setup and tear down and day-of event coordination services for weddings. Started in Oct. 2011 and its been slow to pick up but I also haven't put as much time into marketing and spreading the word as I'd like to. Kind of nervous about finding the balance between enjoying it and giving up my whole summer to weddings.

I also dabble in rehabing furniture from craigslist and reselling but usually I'm buying something I want, and then I decide I don't like it/need it so I sell it lol.

Most people. It's a good way to make some extra money.
