    Re: DivaJen's Progress

I spent some time this evening setting up my free froogle merchant account. I have my first product feed uploaded, but it hasn't been processed yet, so I can't tell is it's working correctly or not. Even if it is, it may not amount ot anything, but it's free and easy, so it seems worth a try.

AdSense from tutoring site, August: $2.06
      Interest from ING account: $4.43

(I added money to my ING account, but I'm including all of the interest, as I wouldn't have set up that account if it hadn't been for this challenge.)

Still waiting for a deposit from half.com - should be $40-$50.

      Previous Balance: $103.35
      Current Balance: $109.84

$54.16 - that's my half.com total for August. If only every month could be that great with so little effort.

Spent $25 on 100 yards of grosgrain ribbon, to make hair bows. I wanted to buy more ribbon anyway, but I figure I'll ty to make some to sell and will thus count half of the money I spent ($12.50) in this challenge. That probably isn't completely accurate, but it's good enough for me.

Here is a sample of what I'm thinking of making - I made some for DD over the weekend.

          Previous total: $164.00
          Current total: $151.50

My ribbon arrived yesterday, so I'm going to take some time today to get it all curled. I need to buy some French clips. The alligator hair clips work OK, but they aren't all that functional. There's a beauty supply store - two, come to think of it - within a mile of my house, so I'll go take a look and see what they have to offer.

Among the different ribbons I bought, I have some solid orange, solid yellow, polka dotted orange and polka dotted yellow. I'm thinking of making some Halloween themed hair pretties with those. I may go by Joanns and get some plain black ribbon, too.

Haven't sold anything in a while. Feeling kind of blue about that.

How do you get the ribbon to curl and stay curled? What keeps the curl from coming out when it gets wet?

I wrap the ribbon around wooden dowels and bake them. That's what curls it. As for getting wet - don't let it happen.

I've got 6 korkers done and ready to be attached to clips. 2 of them are yellow/orange - reminds me of candy corn. The other four are purple and green - funky Halloween colors. I still need to get some black ribbon and find some French hair clips. I want to make a set with orange, yellow and black and use up what's left of the the orange and yellow ribbon. I was just looking at ebay, seeing what people are bidding on (and how much they're bidding, as well).

I've still got a pile of blue polka dot, plain blue and pastel ribbon to play with.

I sold a book this week for $4, but I haven't mailed it yet, so my total isn't changing yet. The postage ought to be $1.42.

I'm glad I added AdSense to my tutoring site. It isn't making huge amounts of money, but I checked and it's brought in $1.75 so far this month. Some money is better than no money. I have a homeschooling site as well, and this month it's brought in $2.07. I'll add those to my challenge total at the end of the month.

My mom made about 14 aprons over some vintage patterns we found at her mom's house. I'm going to list them at DivaTribe. If any sell, I'll count the 80% commission less shipping fees toward my total here. The other 20% will stay with DivaTribe, just like any other sale. It's never 20% anyway, as there are almost always PayPal fees.

Is the poncho still for sale? I was gonna email the link to my mom, it might be something she would like for one of her stepneices. Only she has two of them.

I used this link to HSBC from mjrube and signed up for an account. I am opening it with one dollar and will post the $35 in bonus money once it has been added. I should also have $50 from ShareBuilder to add in a month or so.

I added four sets of korkers (hair ribbons for girls) to my site today. We'll see what happens!

                              I also have $5.73 from half.com.
