I have another poncho to possibly try and sell - I made it a long while back for DD, but it was too big, and so she's never even worn it. It's pretty fall colors (IMO), made of granny squares. If I can get some photos taken of it today, I'll list it.

I checked out ebookdrop.com, but I'm not going to use it for my books. I'm better off leaving things listed at half.com and waiting for them to sell.

I added ten more books to my list at half.com. Hopefully some will sell. I added $39.50 in books today, bringing my total inventory there up to $112.25 if everything were to sell. Wouldn't that be nice?

Postage today for the book I sold recently was $1.42.

            Previous balance: $109.45
            Current balance: $108.03

I also added the newest granny square girl's crocheted poncho to my store.

Self-help, parenting, education, chick lit, biographies - a little bit of everything.

Edited to add that one of the books I listed earlier today sold this evening for $3.

I set up a shop this evening at etsy.com (divatribe.etsy.com is my shop). There are no fees at all until 11/1/05, so I'm taking advantage of a little bit of free exposure for the things I've been making. Since I already have the pictures taken, the descriptions written and the prices figured out, it doesn't take long at all to put them into the shop there. My only risk is having one of a kind items listed in more than one place, but the chances of something selling at the same time in both places is slim and a risk I'm willing to take.

Sold another book at half.com this evening for $3. So far I have two to mail out on Monday. As usual, I'll deduct that postage from my total and then add in the amount half.com deposits to my checking account once it's in there.

Make that two books - another one sold this evening for $9.75.

                        Re: DivaJen's Progress

I spent some time on eBay last night looking at what was getting bid in terms of handmade and custom children's clothing. It looks like it is a tough thing to be successful at - I suspect many of those sellers also go to craft shows, or consignment boutiques, and similar venues, to complement their online selling. Just the time alone they're putting into those clothes, and then to have maybe one outfit getting bid on?

So while it looks fun, I may reserve that solely for creating cute stuff for my own DD. I could easily find some used jeans at a thrift store to practice with, maybe add some cute ruffles to the hems, ric-rac, etc.

OH! As I'm typing this I just got word from half.com that another book has sold - $10. Woo hoo! So now I have two books to mail this week. I already mailed three yesterday. Can't wait to add the total from half.com's deposit to my total here.

OK, back to clothes - I need to get my serger working again. It was working great for rolled hems, and when I went to switch it back to regular sewing for seams, it wouldn't thread correctly for the life of me. I gave up on it...for months now. I need to look at it again - it opens up a variety of sewing projects in terms of ease of sewing and speed of completion.

I added the two ponchos to my etsy shop. Doubt it'll help, but every little bit of exposure I can get is better than none.

Sold a book this morning for $4. It's going to be nice to get the deposit from half.com for this month's sales. Looks like I've sold about $45 worth of books this month. Isn't going to get me to $5000, but it's better than collecting dust around the house. Will deduct shipping costs later today after I'm back from the post office.

                              Re: DivaJen's Progress

I have a web site for my tutoring business, and I added AdSense to its home page. Since I probably wouldn't have thought to do that had I not been involved in this challenge and thinking of ways here and there to earn some extra money, I'm going to add in money from those clicks. I doubt it'll come out to much, but I'll count it in regardless.

I played around with the page titles and page content yesterday in an effort to better promote the distance/online aspect of my tutoring services. People searching for a math tutor in my area find my site easily in Google; searching for a distance tutor is a different matter. That's become a new project for me, as distance tutoring is something I can do while DD is in school, and I can bring my laptop to a coffee house near her school and use their wifi for free. (Her school is abut a 34 mile roundtrip drive, so I'd rather not drive there and back twice a day every day if I can help it.)

I set up a phpBB board on my site last night, to provide another option for students at a distance to communicate with me. Between email, IM'ing, the possibility of talking via Skype (or maybe the new google talk?), and the message board, I think I have my bases covered.

All that to say that if my site brings in somemoney via adsense clicks, I'll add them to my challenge total. Since adding it I've made a little over a dollar. I'll check the totals at the end of each month.

My tutoring site is already doing better in Google for a few key search phrases. Tinkering with page titles and content, combined with having a site that has been around for years, helped a lot. If I land any tutoring business as a result, I'll include the income in the challenge total here.
