One thing that could spook the market is if some high profile person or people come down with COVID-19. We know Trump has potentially been exposed. Several other government officials have been as well. Or maybe a celebrity or two.

No sooner did I post this than we're reading the news and find out that Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson have both been diagnosed with CV19. Then the news broke that the NBA was suspending the season after a player on the Utah Jazz tested positive.
Between that stuff and Trump speaking tonight, the market should be in a free fall tomorrow.Steve

Dow futures are down 965 so I don’t think you need a seer to know what’s going to happen tomorrow.Originally posted by TexasHusker View PostNow tell us what the markets are going to do tomorrow!!??

Maybe that kitty will bounce somewhere in there.
Futures were flat. Then Trump opened his mouth. Then futures dropped 1,000 points.

There are going to be a lot of screaming deals out there if you have the patience to wait for things to turn around.
I see a fair amount of pent up demand once this settles down.
Consumers are going to have cabin fever and have some extra cash to to spend.

OMG. Trump's comments really crashed the market.
The cruise lines are getting destroyed. Royal Caribbean is down almost $11 today alone. Last month, they were at $117. Now they are at $33. Carnival is down from $44 to $18. American Air is down from $30 to $14.
There will be fortunes made this week.Last edited by disneysteve; 03-12-2020, 06:10 AM.Steve

Watching that. Tempted to grab some, even though I said I wouldn't buy more stocks.Originally posted by disneysteve View PostOMG. Royal Caribbean is down almost $11 today alone. Last month, they were at $117. Now they are at $33. There will be fortunes made this week.

A list of performance by sector is showing Energy/Minerals at the bottom down 40%. So I took at look at Vanguard's offerings. VDE, their energy ETF, is off over 50% YTD. Is anybody thinking about investing in that area?Steve

Otherwise, it's really a statement of fact. The futures started plummeting while he was still talking.
Also, the European Central Bank said they would ramp up bond buying and do some sort of relief for lenders but no interest rate cuts, which is what investors were hoping for, so those markets are declining too.Steve
