I think I am about done with biotech. It is just a bit crazy. You go through years of testing, three or more clinical trials, finally get approved by a board at the FDA, then 0.2% of your patients have a alergic reaction that *might* be caused by the drug and you pull it within days.

It is no small wonder that our healthcare system is so expensive and screwed up.

Billions spent on a drug that will help 24,950 people and may cause side effects on 50 people (which probably could have been controlled with proper administration). Silly.

That's not far from the truth. That's why many companies are going for more narrow indications with restricted patient types in their clinical trials just to ensure approval. If off-label prescribing then finds some issue you can just get black box warning rather than pulled from the market. Don't feel sorry for pharma though, our margins are still ridiculous.

I got caught in it but fortunately it wasn't a huge position.... ended up losing 28000$ when it gapped down. Fortunately I made 79000$ trading TTNP this past week.

I'd be careful with dcth in that I think the briefing docs could focus on the lack of gen2 filter data... which could be used as an excuse to tank the stock. I would take a position at 1.05 on apr 30 if it got there...

Also looking at trading thld depending on how it reacts to the ziop pali data due out this week. I have always liked the hypoxic model of thld ever since I traded it back when it was in the 1.20s... plus they have an SPA and ziop doesn't.

Did some reading today... I do think that ZIOP has a negative phase 3 result this week, and judging by the price action this past week on THLD as well (relative to how other bios were doing), there may be more of a selloff in THLD than I thought, when (if) ZIOP announces negative results. That being said, I would be a buyer in ZIOP if it was down huge, for a quick short-covering bounce. Also, while it doesn't strictly fit the market cap rules, I do believe ZIOP will obey the Feuerstein-Ratain rule... I am tempted to short a 50k$ ish position of ZIOP and cover when (if) it gaps down and then go long...

IMO, if ZIOP has bad phase 3 data, it gaps down to 1.20$... on good data, gaps up to 9.50... don't play with more than you can afford to lose, if you do play (and this is not a recommendation to buy/sell/hold, just what I might do)

ZIOP may attempt to squeeze the shorts... watching the 5$ level.

Just to be completely clear here, I think it is extremely likely that the ziop trial fails this week (I would guess thursday afterhours) and probably gaps down to 1.20s... I would short if I could but cannot find a broker to get me the shares. There will likely be tons of longs that are crushed as a result. Any runup to, say, 5.40 is (imo) just to draw more longs in to short higher.
But we will see. May be tempted to go long ziop if it gets low enough for the short-covering bounce. Also would watch THLD for pin action... no position in either at the moment.

I probably wont go long unless it gaps down 80-85%... early premarket at 700-730, but would have to see how it trades.

Good call on ZIOP. Should've sold some calls.

Not going to play DCTH through the meeting.

Small position in APPA looking for a bump on approval.
