Possibly, but someone else in another thread mentioned that their transfer from Emigrant Direct posted to their checking account in 7 hours. Also, all of my transfers to ED have posted to my checking account in no more than 2 business days. None of my ING transactions posted that quickly.

IMO, that's a fairly significant advantage that ED appears to have over ING.

      Okay -- transfer SNAFU:

On sunday, I requested transfers from both my ING and ED accounts to Bank of America so that I can put it in HSBC.

It is now tuesday morning 3AM, my ing money has posted in my bank of america account....

My ED is not even showing that i have requested a transfer, where as yesterday (monday) it did... it is still showing a full balance, as if i never transferred or requested a transfer....

      what the hell?

If you haven't already done so, I would call Emigrant Direct. Even though you still have all of the money in your account, they should, at the very least, be made aware of your issue.

It's probably due to the fac that their UI is known to have some glitches on occasion...so the story goes at least.

It sounds like your transaction was not processed, but that's just an assumption based on the information you have provided. If you want answers, this probably isn't the best place to get them. I suggest you contact Emigrant Direct. Reporting problems helps everyone involved.

will do.... it finally shows as being pending transfer, 2 days later.... i am beginning to think that ED is not worth the extra percetnage (interest) over ING....

ING transfers are like clockwork.... accurate, fast, and consistent...

does anyone have any experience with transfering money out of HSBC to your external checking account?

Everyone, run the numbers before making the switch. It's a teaser rate and only lasts 87 days if you can get the money in today. Also factor in the float from your bank to ING and from ING back to your bank where you won't earn any interest before deciding whether it is worthwhile.

ok so how much money do you gain on the 87 days if you take out 10k from ED wait, to your bank, xfter to ING, wait, and then the rest of 87-x days? not that much money is it

hm just did a rought calculation..it's about 9 dollars for 90 days between 4.25 and 4.75 on 10k dollars. 9bucks..is it worth the hussle?

4.25% I really need to get off my butt about signing up with them - until then, I'll enjoy the 4.75 that ING is offering for the next .... 85 days?!

What's up everybody! I'm new in here. I just found out that HSBC is now offering 4.80%! It's only thru 4-30-06 though, then who knows.

And the great thing is, apparently it's on the entire balance, not just the new stuff coming in. ING must be happy about that...

                              ing is behind the ball...

also, ED is now at 4.25%

Is it worth keeping more than 100K in an account to reap the benefits of more interest, even though it wont be FDIC insured?
