GEICO $1791 for 6 months on a 2024 Chevy trailblazer. Bodily injury $100,000/$300,000 and property damage $100,000 both of which I'm not changing. California requires bodily injury a minimum of $15,000/$30,000 which is quite low and inadequate if you ask me. Property damage minimum is $5000 which is peanuts. I'm looking at dropping uninsured & under insured which cost $189 for 6 months and covers $100,000/$300,000. Also, I'm looking at changing my $500 deductible collision which I'm paying $891 for 6 months to $2500 deductible which will drop to $491 for 6 months. When I signed the loan documents at the Chevy dealership it required $500 deductible for collision but since the car is paid in full that I'm no longer held to $500 deductible but I'm afraid should I change it to $2500 deductible and get into a major collision I'll have to take a big hit. Prices have gotten quite high for insurance coverages that I'm looking at ways to cut costs. Curious what others here pays for car insurance.

We have 4 vehicles on our policy and 3 run about $1k/year and the fourth is $2k/year (son's car - 20 yr old). Liability limits ($500k) are set so that there's no coverage gap with our $5M umbrella.
We've been with the same company for a few years so it's likely time to shop around.“Compound interest is the eighth wonder of the world. He who understands it, earns it … he who doesn’t … pays it.”

Those $500,000 liabilities coverages makes my $100,000 coverage feel inadequate now. The $400 that I'll save increasing my deductible from $500 to $2500 for collision, I'll have to use to increasing my liability from $100,000 to $500,000. In the event that I get sued it could wipe out my savings. I'm glad that some of you opened my eyes to increasing my liabilities.

I've always carried Uninsured Liability and Uninsured Property Damage.
If you're involved in a serious accident with an uninsured driver, your health insurance pays to put you back together. Typically the driver has nothing to sue for, and you'll want some kind of settlement if you are permanently injured or disabled, and to help cover your own deductibles and losses during that time, and any other care or services that might come out of pocket. If the driver is insured and they're carrying minimal liability limits, your UM policy steps in. You don't get any of that money until you settle, however. That's important to remember. Bodily injury liability coverages don't pay bills in real time. They pay a settlement when it's all said and done.
The most expensive vehicle of ours to insure is our motorhome at $5k/year. I'm at about $1400/year on my Jeep Wrangler, which I consider a bargain. It actually goes off road, and yes, that would be a covered loss should something happen.History will judge the complicit.

Brought down my 6 month premium from $1791 to $1427 for 6 months. Yes ua_guy, I kept my uninsured motorist and underinsured motorist liability at the same coverage of $100,000/$300,000 for 6 months at $189. I no longer need to keep my $500 deductible collision lienholder coverage requirement since I paid off the loan so changed it to a $2500 deductible for $486 for 6 months. Now ua_guy got me thinking of adding uninsured property damage which I might add later but I'm happy now with my new coverages.

$1,189 for six months.
Bodily Injury $50,000 per person, $100,000 per accident
Property Damage $100,000 per accident
Medical Coverage $2,000 each person
Motorist Bodily Injury $100,000 each accident, Reduced by At-fault
Comprehensive $500 deductable
Collision $500 deductable
Uninsured /UnderInsured $250 deductable
While paying my insurance I did ask if there were any discounts or classes I could take to reduce the cost. She said AARP offers courses. Just now I've looked up for $25 I can take a 6 hour course. I think she said this would save me $100 per 6 months for the next 3 years?
