You're way higher than a 5 with those numbers. Even a 5% return (which you could just about get in bonds and CDs today) and no additional contributions will have you over a million in 4 years. Assuming you are continuing to put money away, you'll likely be there even sooner. I'd put you at a 10 for sure.Originally posted by QuarterMillionMan View PostAt 56 currently $850,000 net worth but with a possible recession and God willing 6 more years of work until retirement, maybe a "5."Steve

I guess a 10... We hit our first million back in 2019. Last I checked (July), we were around $1.5M.
I think anyone actively & deliberately saving would be at least a 7+, while 5 might be saving a bit here or there but not serious/intentional about it. 3 or below would be deeply in debt and/or living beyond your means.
In that scale... I expect most folks around here on the boards would be in the 6-10 range.

Why? Pretty much just for fun. I also wanted to get a gauge of how well people are doing here on the forums.Originally posted by scfr View PostWhy do you ask?james.c.hendrickson@gmail.com

We’ve already passed that milestone. It’s an ambitious goal and a huge chunk of money, but in high cost of living area it’s easy to have that much into a primary residence and still need to go to work everyday and worry about retirement. Same hell, different scale.History will judge the complicit.

I think you'll find most people on these financial forums already tend to be financially comfortable. Unfortunately the ones that need to be on these forums seldom pop up for advise which is unfortunate. I always enjoy reading the posts from beginners looking to improve their financial outlook.Originally posted by james.hendrickson View Post

I’ll say 9.5
I won’t consider ourselves millionaires until we have $2M because there are 2 of us. For us to each be millionaires, we need to each have $1M if we were to divide it evenly even if it’s all our combined money.
I’m confident we’ll get there, we’re just not there yet
