I had it listed at $850, and a lady tried to low ball me at $500 just before Christmas. I told her OK, but then she put in the condition that she didn't want to pick it up for a week. I told her that was fine but I was going to keep my add up until then. Two days later a guy contacted me and said $650 that evening and I said sold. He ended up running about 4 hours late, but showed up with cash in hand.

It was a drop in the bucket compared to the new telescope, but it was nice to recoop a small amount of the cost. It was even nicer to recoop the closet space.

      Great job!

      • Ebay suggested to me to send some viewers offers to buy the broken laptop. Not sure how eBay determines this but 2 viewers out of 25 came up so along with 1 watcher so I sent them offers of $44 from an original asking price of $50. I also allowed counter offers to be made so let's say if they counter with $40, I will accept it. Sending offers is a powerful motivator and I've even bought items when sellers sent me offers as a buyer.

        • I accidentally became a reseller and it worked out slightly in my favor and saved me from an oopsie!

Bought a high chair accessories bundle that came with a newborn attachment ($150 new), baby attachment ($160 new), and brand new in box tray ($70 new) from FB marketplace for $100 total.

Already has the newborn attachment from a BF sale so figured I’d give to a friend but then decided to list on FB marketplace for $40 and sold immediately.

A couple days later I learn that the company came out with a new version of the baby set with a better functioning clip just a couple of months ago and knew I’d want that version. So listed the baby set for $60 and it also sold immediately.

In the end, I got my $100 back and still got to keep the $70 brand new tray. I probably could have sold for more but wasn’t looking to make a profit. Wasted about 45 minutes total of my time. Overall, I’m pleased with the outcome!

Definitely. I send offers every chance I get and I make a lot of sales that way. I intentionally price most items a bit high to leave room for sending 10% off offers. I also list everything with Best Offer so I can receive offers from buyers.

That's great. You got the item you wanted for free and a couple of buyers got items they wanted for less than retail. Win win.

              • A buyer offered $20 (low ball offer). I countered at $37. Waiting to see if the buyer will counter my offer. Fun to see where this goes or if things fizzle out.

                • Woke up this morning to another offer for $18. Maybe the $20 offer was the market value.

I'm not sure what you mean about market value, but you can get multiple offers on an item from different buyers. Up to you whether you want to accept an offer, send a counter offer, or decline. I don't recommend declining. I think a counter offer is always better unless you're happy with the offer and accept it.

As for market value, I'm assuming you used Product Research before listing to look up sold comps for the item.

                    • Didn't know about Product Research. I just searched similar items and priced my item the same. No counter offers came back (from my $37) from the $20 & $18 offers.

Product research is the most accurate place to check comps. It's better than the regular sold listings for a few reasons. It only shows actual completed transactions where money changed hands. It shows the actual sale price if an item sold on best offer. And it goes back 3 years instead of just 90 days.

It really is like printing money.

I went to two thrift shops today because they do 25% off on Tuesdays if you belong to their loyalty club.

                          I spent $35.89.
I came home and sold it all to Replacements for $221.00.

                              I stopped in Goodwill today.

                              I bought 9 salad plates for $8 that I sold for $18.
                              I bought 8 dinner plates for $15 that I sold for $320.
                              I bought 4 cereal bowls for $5 that I sold for $200.

I was there for under an hour. About $500 profit.

That's a big score. What kind of cereal bowls were they? Some vintage stuff?
