Massage therapy and various fields in cosmetology. You can get licensed in 6-12 months of trade school usually, and for well under 20k.

Railroading! You can start right out of highschool, no experience and work your way up. If you desire to engineer, or to office work. There are many aspects in this, train crew, track crew, maintenance, mechanics.
Great pay, great benefits and a lifetime of good work. The retirement is also good, pension, widows pension, many benefits.
This is a career that is not going away and needs people.

I was in physician recruitment and managed care contract negotiations for years. This was essentially a sales job. I worked for a company of over 4,000 people and I made more than anyone in the company except for 5 people.
The brass thought I was doing something real sophisticated and difficult - so much so that they coveted me and showered me with all sorts of pay raises and bonuses. Actually it was really easy - form relationships with people by taking them to fancy restaurants, playing a golf round at the country club every 6 months, or taking in a baseball game. Never mentioned my product or service once during any of those activities, but pretty much always got the deal done - why would they ever work with anyone else - I was their bud!
