  • What are your hobbies?

I usually start a hobby, get bored with it and move on.

First hobby was RC airplanes. Then astronomy. Then RC helicopters. Then garden tractors. Now it's watches. I did buy an old MGB but only kept it for a year. As a family, we did a lot of camping. Also did a stint with horses. those are really expensive. Have always owned a dog or two and currently also have 2 cats.

As a kid (80s/early 90s), I was really into trains so I collected a lot of items for the various scales (N, HO, O, G).

I stopped adding to the collection mid-90's to early 2000's.

    Got back into it recently.

Apparently the financial crisis did a number on the model train industry. Companies folded/merged, etc.

Now everything is digital and priced really high - from track to engines costing a minimum of $50-60 for a very basic model.

anyhow, I'm trying to pass this hobby onto my son, but I'll need a loan to get the newer stuff.

Along with the trains, I also collected the dept 56 houses to put on the train layouts.

I don't really have any hobbies that I currently actively pursue. For many years, from the mid 1970s until the early 2000s, I collected Disney memorabilia. We still maintain our collection and it is nicely displayed in our home but we rarely add to it anymore. We will pick up a piece now and then but to call it "collecting" would be a stretch.

I suppose being active in the Disney fan community is my hobby now. I'm active on some internet forums and Facebook groups. We attend gatherings of fellow Disney enthusiasts throughout the year (we're going to one in Orlando next week and went to one in NJ 3 weeks ago). These gatherings are also fund raisers for Give Kids The World Village in Florida. To date, we've raised about $500,000 for the Village. Our group is their single largest non-corporate donor.

When in college, my hobbies were always gaming on the PC with my friends. After college, I went extremely hard on Airsoft. Amassed a huge collection of airsoft guns with OT money for a few years. Then I got into high end movie figure collecting(Hot Toys).

Now I'm still doing a little bit of Hot Toys and Star Wars collecting(usually high end custom stuff).

I got into watches(replicas only) a year ago but thought watches were just not for me.

Recently, say 4 months ago, I got into board game collecting...lol. I am totally transforming my house into a geek haven.

Started just 2 months ago, I got addicted to growth stock investment using Robinhood...has been till this date.

I'm pretty much a high school and college sports junkie. I love to watch football, track, and volleyball especially.

This is such a boring time of year in sports...

I'm sort of like OP, I drift in & out of various hobbies over time. My first real hobby (as a 12 y/o) was scuba diving. I got all of the gear, and went diving multiple times a month. I got into running in high school. Photography was the next big one, which lasted basically until a little after college. In college I was obsessed with snowboarding, and went at every opportunity. Still go boarding every do often. Next was cycling, which I'm still very much into. Reading has been a persistent one for me as well, and I've always gone through good books like candy. I'll slide back into old hobbies periodically as well, like when I lived in Okinawa, Japan I started scuba diving again, and got my advanced certification.

                I really enjoy collecting hobbies.

I suppose we do have something that has developed into a hobby of sorts. We've gotten into the world of whiskey and bourbon. Over the past year, we've visited several distilleries and have a trip planned to Kentucky this fall. We've been learning all about the production process and what distinguishes one product from another, doing tastings to experience the differences, and learning what we like more and less. We've also connected with some friends who are into it as well.

I have a tendency to get so into something that I go a little overboard. I'm currently into Pokemon Go. I walked so much that I jacked up my feet and have an appt next week with a specialist. My dog (my Poke partner) lost so much weight that I had to start feeding her more or people would assume she was homeless. Of course, I have only lost 5 pounds.

I also like to learn how to fix things. I'm currently working on replacing the engine on our go kart. Last week it was replacing the drain pump on the washing machine. The old pontoon boat we bought from a neighbor also needs an overhaul.

I also like to fish and read a lot.

I forgot to add essential oils. Again, went overboard and now I can't even keep track of what I have but my house smells nice and my skin is soft.

I used to make soap out of lye and vegetable oils many years ago, and I've recently picked it back up as a hobby. You can put almost anything into soap one way or another. Planning on making some smashed avocado and $4 coffee soap this afternoon.

Same here about gambling on sports and watching it on TV. I got four $50 Warrior tickets to win the NBA championships before the playoffs started probably in March/April 2017. I kept one for myself and sent the other 3 to family in Hawaii.

If they win, do they need to come to California to collect?
