My neighbor just paid $150 to wash, wax, & vacuum a new Kia Palisade SUV. I thought it was outrageous so I did an internet search and it looks to be on par. Every week with a 5 gallon bucket of water I wash my own car. Every few months I'll vacuum. Once a year I'll wax. Yesterday I cleaned the interior windshields. Do you pay and how much?

I go to the car wash every couple of months. I think the package I usually get is either $14 or $19 depending on which I choose that day. That's not a full detail but does include them cleaning the interior windows, vacuuming the carpets, washing the floor mats (I have rubber WeatherTech mats), cleaning the door jambs, etc. That's along with the exterior wash. They do offer more costly detail packages including hand wax and such but I've never gotten one. They also have a punch card so every 11th wash is free.Steve

Nah, I hope I'll never need to pay that much for a clean car. Right now, it's one of those jobs I peculiarly enjoy that I know others dislike or can't find the time for. Oh, actually I don't like doing the car interior --just the exterior. I do my own. I used to detail cars for money in college, and, being a car enthusiast, I keep very clean vehicles as a rule of thumb. I've got all the stuff and can pull it out whenever I want. It's good activity, too.
History will judge the complicit.

$6.75 for the drive through wash every couple months. We live in a rainy area so mother nature gives it a rinse frequently. I use the car wash's free vacuum when I visit, plus in between at home. I clean the wiper blades, clean the interior myself, and change the interior air cabin filter when it needs it. The clear coat on our 2010 looked good for many years (we always park in the garage which I think helps), but a few years ago my husband started waxing it periodically. I want it to look acceptable, but care more about the interior air quality and safety.
