I just reviewed the year-end summaries from 3 of our 4 credit cards (the 4th is DW's Discover which isn't more than a few hundred dollars). The total spending for the 3 cards was just over $58,500.
Even based on a 1% reward, that comes to $585. In reality, the total rewards are higher because we only use our Discover cards for the 5% bonus categories. Our Chase card also has 5% categories. And our Marriott card gives double points for restaurants and 5X points for charges at Marriott properties.

Most people on SA (who aren't CCF) look to maximize CC usage!! (To get the bonus points, of course, without paying interest.)
