I believe that those are essential services so I have no problem supporting them. What I do have a problem with paying taxes to fund NON-TAX paying llegals' schooling / health care / providing for individuals who live a good life and then expect govt handouts on my dime because they didn't plan to save. If Khanna, Jayapal, Pelosi, and other bleeding hearts want to support anyone that doesn't pay taxes or plan their lives, then they need to support them on THEIR dime, not mine. I am OK with being the bad guy for calling out entitlement & wanna-be communism in America

PS: If illegal immigrants pay taxes I have no issues with them accessing services. No services without taxation, sorry.

You probably can afford it. I am considered low / moderate where I live and I cannot afford a dime more in taxes.

Have you thought about the fact that you are already paying for all of those things anyway? Your tax dollars fund Medicaid and charity care programs at the hospitals. Your tax dollars fund the WIC program. Your tax dollars fund public education programs and school lunches. Your tax dollars fund all sorts of support programs now, under the current system. You're already paying those bills.

A UBI plan would replace a lot of those programs by sending everyone a monthly check instead so that they could afford to do those things on their own rather than needing to go through a bunch of government bureaucracy to get the same benefits (which actually costs tax payers a lot more money overall because of the administrative burden).

          * Despite the high cost of living, it remains very popular.
          * Why should I pay for my daughter's education when she already knows everything?
          * There are no shortcuts to anywhere worth going.

If anything, we have proven we cannot manage our money as a nation! Burdening us with more money management would be an unmitigating DISASTER, don't you think?

Not really my choice, but I'd be ok with a few more rounds of stimulus. However, I question the need if the government is continuing with the expanded unemployment. I think better aid to small businesses might be better along with an extension of the additional unemployment if this crisis extends past summer months.

That's what I'm thinking instead of handing out money to UBI or to big companies, I think it asinine harvard gets PPP. Sorry but seriously they need to stop allowing anyone in these bigger revenue companies to profit at all. I think seriously it needs to go to small businesses or independent contractors.

Second stimulus bill up for vote. Heroes act but now you can claim college kids as $500 dependents. Do you think this isngood or bad idea? It also expands Medicaid.

im. Not sure this is a good idea.

The Democrats introduced this one, so I would guess that it is packed full of "wish list" type things.
I'd guess that as it makes its way through the Congress that it will be modified multiple times.
The final bill will look much different.

I can see the Medicare provision not surviving.

I don't think stimulus checks fix the underlying issue of unemployment unless tbe govt plans to send checks every month (which it can't).

A second (or more) "stimulus checks" will likely increase payroll and other taxes next year, resulting in MORE lay offs.

Plus, unemployment will run out at some point so people are going to bank the "stimulus payments", not spend them. I think many people are struggling but I don't think that stimulus checks are a viable long-term solution, unfortunately.

                      Thats's JMO.

this bill is not likely to go anywhere. its strictly a political play. I'll leave it at that.

I haven't read the details so I'm not fully informed on what's being proposed.

If the Heroes act thing is payments to front line workers, I'm opposed to that, and I say that as a front line worker who would get that payment. Don't give the money to people who have remained fully employed. Give it to the millions who have lost their jobs and incomes.

Expanding Medicaid is critically important. Millions who have lost their jobs also have lost their medical coverage since those two are linked in America. Definitely let them get on Medicaid if they can.
