Out of curiosity I came across this 4 nights from Long Beach to Ensenada & Catalina $109 ($27.25 per night), that's half the normal price. I've done this twice before. Now they couldn't give it away for free, at least to me that is. Not sure why anyone would want to take a chance of possibly getting stuck on a cruise or worse.

I am now going on round 3. I called on 2 April and they were going to "reprocess" my refund request. I haven't heard anything back from United.
So, today I noticed there is a refund form on the website that hadn't been there before. I filled it out and sent it in--at least I received an email confirmation that they received my request. It has been almost 4 weeks since I first called and they told me that I would get a refund.
I think the next step will be a complaint to the DOT and CC charge-back (due to airline did not deliver the service promised).

I wonder if I am the only one who is still waiting for a refund? The process has been very s-l-o-w for me.... After Round 3--didn't achieve the desired results, I filed a complaint with the DOT on 24 Apr. DOT sent me a response that the complaint was being forwarded to UAL on 7 May. UAL called me (on a Sunday) on 17 May. The customer Rep said, I was entitled to a refund. She was going to "expedite" it and I would receive a refund in 7-10 business days.... I calculate that today is the 7th business day... I figure on 1 Jun I will request the charge back (if I don't get my refund).

I'm pretty sure their strategy is to deter you from pursuing a full refund, and just accept the voucher/credit for future use. I'm supposed to see it in 2 weeks, so we'll see."I'd buy that for a dollar!"

Customer care finally got around to responding to my 1 June email on 10 June stating that "Please note that refunds are taking up to 30 business days"...
So, I had enough--they have had since 14 March to issue a refund and they have had plenty of opportunities to refund with my repeated refund requests. I mailed my credit card dispute on 10 June. (I was afraid that if I let it go too much longer I might lose my ability to dispute it--as I have read somewhere there is a 120 day from scheduled flight date time frame--not sure about this, though.) 10 days later (20 June), the CC company reduced the statement balance by the amount of the ticket--at that time the ticket amount was still reflected on the CC balance.
Today (27 Jun), the actual credit was issued on the CC. There has been no change on my United account, but I am hoping this means it has been resolved with the CC company.

Glad you finally got it settled L2P. I can't imagine the mess all of these companies are dealing with having to issue refunds to every single customer for months. Airlines, hotels, theme parks, tour groups, cruises, etc. There have to literally be millions of refunds that have to be processed.
The only one I'm waiting on is the cancellation of my Disney World annual pass. I called on 5/15 but I can't imagine they've even started to process those yet as they've been swamped dealing with changing and cancelling reservations and making new ones for the anticipated park reopening next month. I figure I'll give them a couple of months and if I don't hear anything, I'll call again. I'm also very tied in to the fan community online so I'm sure I'll hear if anyone else starts getting their refunds.Steve
