I didn't realize your cruise was on the Diamond Princess. Yikes!

I had booked months ago and they still gave me crap. I ended up with the deposit refunded as a credit on princess instead of back on the CC. I was a bit annoyed to tell the truth. I also was shocked they actually thought they would be sailing the Diamond Princess in May 2020, but I don't think so anymore. So I'll call in a bit when it lessens up. And see if I can't get my money back on CC instead of credit. But right now Costco travel is apparently slammed.

Can you dispute it on your credit card to get your money back?

Dang, that was my back up plan if the airlines give me crap.
"I'd buy that for a dollar!"

So, after United told me I would be getting a refund (on March 14th) for a cancelled flight that was on 25 March, they sent me an email (on 1 Apr) basically telling me to "stick it".... (I put in a second request with the airline).

Today I received a survey from United, "United Airlines recently invited you to participate in a survey regarding your interaction with our Refunds Team. You are welcome to submit your thoughts anytime through April 7, 2020 and we hope you take a few minutes to let us know how we did in responding to your feedback."

I wonder why they don't just turn that feature off considering they don't seem to be giving refunds these days?

They cancelled the flight but aren't issuing refunds?

In general, yes. In my case specifically--they cancelled my flight and rebooked me on an itinerary I could not accept (6 hours earlier than my original departure time). Subsequent to that, they cancelled the replacement flights.

The only thing they have refunded so far is the upgrade fee on one of my flights.

So they cancelled you, rebooked you, and then cancelled that one too, and still aren't giving a refund?

I've heard that the airlines have been really responsive to all of this. I wonder why you're having so much trouble.

Ya--not so much for United. I suspect they are having cash flow problems. There are lots of threads over on Flyertalk about this.
My sister was flying on Delta (Air France metal IIRC) and I figured she would have no trouble getting her refund, but she is also having trouble.

That's ridiculous. If I buy a product or pay for a service and you are no longer able to provide that product/service, you need to return my money ASAP. I don't care if you're having cash flow problems. Get a damn loan and give me my money back.

                          • I'm very happy I hadn't booked airfare yet for 2 upcoming trips, one in June and one in July. They may or may not still happen but it's easy to cancel hotel reservations as late as a day or two in advance. I'll wait as long as I can before buying plane tickets though even if it means paying more.

                            • You may be in luck. The Fed is now ordering airlines to give cash refunds for cancelled flights.

That is awesome news. If they said no again, I was going to work through--DOT complaint and CC chargeback, but it would be better if they just gave it back.

The other peculiar thing about an international flight is the actual airfare was $485.00, the rest of it (about $1100.00) was various taxes they collected.
