My husband and I went on a trip to Ireland two years ago, but that was before we had our son. We're planning 2 long weekend trips in the near future, but both of those are to attend family functions (wedding and baby shower). I think that we won't have our next real vacation for another 2 years or so. We will save for it in the meantime... I'm hoping not to spend more than $3000.
Logging in...
Where are you vacationing this year?

I got my vacation book for Peru to do some volunteer work for an orphanage for 2 weeks in october.I'm excited about this trip. I currently work oversea so going oversea is not new to me, but I have never done any volunteer oversea work before. So this will be a good experience for me. The only thing bad is the bank account is hurting a bit, since I work oversea I am making several trip across the world so my plane ticket is expensive.

You'll have to let us know how it goes

Our big trip this year is a week long camping trip to some high mountain lakes only accessible by well-equipped 4x4's. It's quite an experience getting up there, and if you're like me, you revel in the fact that it's unlikely that you'll see anyone else up there all week.
It's not the most sophisticated or trip traveled "abroad". We have plans to knock a few things off of our wish lists including traveling Australia, visiting Greenland, and also making a few trips to Alaska. We hope to accomplish at least two of these in the next 5 years or so.
But in this first year after buying a new home, I'm going to appreciate and enjoy a relatively simple camping trip that's long on time and relaxtion, and won't gouge the wallet.History will judge the complicit.

Went to Aruba for the 4th of July. LOVED it. Ended up getting flight for $700 round trip and hotel at a $1,000 discount. I called the Marriott Vacation Club and said I was interested in a timeshare. They said come down to Aruba for a week and enjoy $1,000 off the hotel. Only stipulation is you have to spend half a day listening to them pitch you the timeshare. At the end of the presentation you simply say no and you're finished.

We've been to Puerto Rico and Napa/Sf/Yosemite earlier this year. We're headed to Glacier NP and Banff next month. Im pretty excited. That will be the last of the trips for the year. The only reason we took so many is all of the airfare for 2 people were free...thanks SW and your companion pass!

* Despite the high cost of living, it remains very popular.

Took the family to Side, Turkey this year. Gorgeous beeches, Mediterranean Sun, and great resorts/hotels. also visited the ruins of the old Roman town and the Temple of Apollo.
We always go in early July (take the kids out of school for a week... they're 8 and 4 so not missing out on anything) in order to save money. We checked before we booked and had we gone 4weeks later the cost was nearly double!!
