  • Sunday paper and coupon inserts were finished and filed/recycled on Monday. Tue mailed grocery ads were reviewed, list made and papers recycled on Wed.

I have a hip joint injury from 2008 that has been bothering me the past week (suspect worn shoes which have been tossed); thus little done. Also, Tue was an errand/visit my Dad day. By the time I got home (5+ hours out) hip was bothering me again. Took some ibuprofen & did the exercises therapy had me doing.

I cleaned out my wallet, purse and CVS green tag bag. All stray, not needed or expired paper into the recycle bag.

Good on ya for recycling things! Most people don't and it's such a shame, wish there was more like you Steve.

      • As noted previously, I clip and file Sunday coupon inserts weekly. However, I retain the inserts in an old magazine rack in case a deal comes up. This morning I put about 6 weeks worth into recycle as the coupons in them have all expired.

        • Today is my Salvation Army pickup day. They do this about 1x/year. There is 1 carton, 2 large bags and one medium bag = a total of 87 items so I am up to 127 items this month. That is good because I was short of my goal in Nov.

          • Today's task is to attack the e-mail in box. I started the day with 102. Let's see what I can get it down to by the time I leave the office. I'm at 97 right now.

ETA: Started with 102. Getting ready to leave the office and I'm at 88. So got rid of 14 plus quite a few that came in throughout the day. I'll get through a bunch more over the weekend. I'm usually down to about 30 by Monday morning.

So--since Monday I've decluttered 16 books, some to friends, and 8 to freecyclers.
Today DD's outgrown dollhouse went to a woman doing children's play therapy in the inner city.

              Everyone else?
Clean off my desk, went on 3 weeks vacation!

              • I am SOOOO ticked. Salvation Army did NOT pick up my donation Friday. I had it out b/4 8 am and it was not picked up. All I got was a ticket for placing ‘trash’ in my front yard (all our stuff is alley pickup). I am feeling hit by the ‘no good deed goes unpunished’ syndrome. Now I have to load it in my car, take it over and unload it – and today was supposed to be a no drive day and get some cooking prep done for next week. I need to do it today as we are anticipating another snow storm over the Sun-Mon time frame.

In fact I plan to visit my Dad on Sun to allow for the storm.

                • Laugh if you like, but my big declutter yesterday was on the side of my refrigerator. Talk about a vertical file!

Now, anyone know how to get those black marks from cheap business card magnets off my white appliance?

                  • Joan.of.the.Arch: Try Magic Eraser. It gets off a lot of things or my old stand-by is baking soda.

                    • If a liberal sprinkling of baking soda doesn't do the trick, dampen a used, Bounce type dryer sheet to rub off the mark. Those dryer sheets do wonders in cleaning burnt-on foods in casseroles or pots. Just drop the used sheet and pour boiling or v/hot water over, let soak overnight.

                      • I seem to be losing the e-mail battle. I'm back up over 100 messages. I started to work on it earlier when we got back from a movie but I was too tired. Maybe later.

I did go through a bunch of newspapers while watching TV a short time ago. That helped in that area.

                        • I freecycled 2 kerosene cans that we no longer needed. Frees up valuable space in my garage.

                          • Does anyone know how I can get rid of 2 propane canisters, like the kind used for gas grills? I know I can't trash them.

                            • Got to the e-mail folder after all. Went from 104 to 63. Still work to be done but that's at least some decent progress.

                                Steve,

In Bergen County we have hazardous household waste collections about once per quarter where they will take propane. I'm not sure what county you're in, but I'm guessing they have a similar collection offered periodically.
