I just ordered my free $50 check from my Chase rewards master card. I love getting free money almost every month.

I went out shopping today to look for play watches for my youngest granddaughter. I had bought a Dora Watch that really worked but she's only 2 yrs and 2 mos old and can't tell time but I did buy a real Disney Princess watch for her older 4 year old sister. I didn't want to leave the little one out so I will take back the $10 watch and give her the play watches saving money and yet giving her what is appropriate for her age.
I saved big bucks in my grocery store. They had fresh salmon fillets for $3.99 per lb. Also had fresh tilapia fillets for $3.99 per pound. I also bought 21-30 size ready to eat shrimp for $3.99 per pound. I also bought bottom round steak on sale. I love this dish in the crock pot. I go to my seafood dept and the manager marks everything down because she has too much inventory.

What frugal thing did you do today?
I will start and since I am a morning person, I generally report on the previous day BUT right now I am catching up w/all my notes from Tuesday.
My 92 y/o dad has been rotating between the hospital & a rehab place for 2 months now. Many of the meals he orders come w/packets of salad dressing, mayo, ketchup and/or mustard. He uses very little of these. If I am visiting at meal time I take the extra. He will NOT miss and I am ahead for packing lunches and/or filling my own bottles.
Wed was a no drive, no spend day but that is the last of that for this week. Thur I went to see DD2 & DGS1 (82 mi rt). We did lunch out (DD bought so no spend + leftovers) and some shopping (CVS w/$5 Halloween coupons = no spend). I thought about picking up something for dinner but since I planned a crazy Fri I just went home and had a salad & eggs. Didn’t want/need the extra spend. Fri I planned to go to a cosmetology school and have a mani/pedi (<1/2 the price of our cheapest local nail places) as I have a wedding on Sat – so another drive/spend day. However, could not get an appointment so going on Sat morning. Guess I will get lunch out Sat so not to ruin mani.
Fri will end up being a drive, spend day as I NEED a haircut & want to visit my Dad since I did not yesterday. However, since I am going to be home in the morning I am going to do some meal prep (meat balls & meatloaf), laundry & wash out the fridge.
While I am out on Sat I am going to try to hit a CVS that may have both ads running. I have been told that the store mgr can activate the new Sun sales on Sat. This is sale prices ONLY, EB deals are activated by corp. Since I have a $3/15 CVS coupon I am going to try for the razor (also mfg coupon + EB back) from this week and cat food that starts on Sun (BOGO sale + mfg coupon). Will fill in if/as needed w/$1 items (unless the scanner gives me something GREAT).

My total out of pocket expense for my NYE blowout dinner to $11.72. I did skipped the Baileys. Just WAAAY too expensive even on sale and the mini is $4 for under 2 oz. I will just do some coffee w/flavored creamer instead. There is enough of everything to have at least 1 more meal. I will be using potato + fixings, romaine and salad dressing I have on hand.
I was thinking about a quick trip to a store close to my home (3 ish mi rt) because I know they do a major reset in the produce section on Fridays. However, it is POURED here for nearly 3 hours. Between the snow melt and the downpour my street is flooded curb to curb. Temps are also supposed to drop with/just after the rain. Think I will wait a bit and see what happens. There is nothing I need so desperately that I have to go out.

~ Visited the new St. Vincent de Paul thrift store that opened nearby (woohoo!). Bought 12 children's books for $1.50 total. Also bought there the strangest item that I'd been scouring the internet for: An orange and white clown fish wood sculpture, $0.50. Totally pleased to have found it.
~ Wrote email to a relative who haunts places where used books are sold. Gave him an assignment to find a 1215 page paperback called Gravitation. $116 on Amazon, and I'm sure we can do much better, right?"There is some ontological doubt as to whether it may even be possible in principle to nail down these things in the universe we're given to study." --text msg from my kid

Sunday was a controlled driving day (<5 mi rt) since I REALLY wanted to et some things at CVS & WAG. However, it was a no spend day as I paid for everything w/EB, coupons a a gift card I got b/4 Christmas.
Today will also be a controlled driving day. I need to go to the library (different direction than my Sunday trip). I may spend a small amount at the produce market I will pass. Could use some veggies for some oriental soup.
Since CVS had canned salmon on sale this past week (for as cheap as I can recall seeing in a couple of years) I made salmon patties for dinner. The can makes 3 servings so 1 for dinner, 1 for Tue lunch and 1 to freezer.

Mon ended up being a no spend day. My fruit/veg market planned stop resulted in NO purchases. The pea pods I wanted were price ok (but quality was poor) and they no longer have a bulk bag of bean sprouts to select what you need. They are 2 lb bags or NOTHING. Since I only wanted 1/3-1/2 lb I chose NOTHING.
this is the same market that REFUSED to take a Sunday insert coupon for clementines last week. I may just stop shopping there BUT it is SOOOO convienent. they are 1.5 mi from my house, next to Aldi, accross from WAG and on a major travel route for me (nearly every day I drive).
