You have a candidate who delegitimizes the news and cold hard facts while legitimizing "feels", anecdotal evidence, and conspiracy theories.

Step 1. The establishment is purposely screwing you over
Step 2. Everything you read or hear that are so called "facts" are false
Step 3. Everything that is biased toward your position is probably true.
Step 4. I legitimize your position using the same anecdotal sources ("I hear people online have been saying")
Step 5. Only I am truthful, put your faith in me, not the same people who have been screwing you over.
Step 6. Say something crazy, all the news sources condemning you..you tell people "you see? BIASED MEDIA!"
    Step 7. ?????? Profit.

Lady, although it is clear you are expressing more of your hate for President-elect Trump, the above is fitting for politicians in general.

I like my children to get an education in current events just as my school district has done for umpteen years. What a perfect thing to discuss, starting with what is propaganda and what is real. Sticking the teacher's head in the sand and having him only teach past history is ridiculous. These are historic times we are living in and never before has info been squashed at school as far as I know. Especially since certain groups have faced bullying at that school. The bullies are punished but no one talks about why it's happening in the first place? Utter PC BS

I don't have a problem with teachers discussing current events if they can stick to facts and not fill kid's heads with their own personal bias.

I totally agree. Social Studies class should be all over this election process. What better to teach than history in the making?

Obviously, it needs to be done objectively and intelligently, but telling the very teachers who should be teaching it that they can't is ridiculous.

                  Wow
                  Just learned the following.

44% of Americans get their news from Facebook
38% of the news posted by the right are fake news
20% of the news posted by the left are fake news.

So when Trump was sayingthat the media is rigged, he actually meant social media....

Guys, Singuy, and crew on this thread - I want to challenge everyone here to name three good things about the political process now that the election is over.

                    I'll start:

                    1. We can focus on fiscal policy/tax cuts, which should be good for everyone.
                    2. We can focus on getting over the unpleasantness of the election.
                    3. America is still the best democracy there is. Minorities, women and the poor have political representation that many other countries do not have.

Nearly 70% of people surveyed in a recent poll said they don't trust the national media. There is obviously a trust gap and it is not surprising that folks are looking to other sources to get their news. The article posted below is a great self examination piece by a member of the media and I think the analysis is spot on.

If we want to get a better idea about what's going on in America, we're going to have to embrace humility

                        1. Marriage Equality is a done deal (according to trump) but not Roe versus Wade, not sure why but it's something that the courts made a decision for both but one is done and not the other.

                        2. We have an opportunity to withdraw from being the world police, hopefully we can spend the next 4 years not offending people too much.

                        3. Excited at the thought of investing in infrastructure which the US badly needs.

The extremists in this country need some serious meds. Tossing their shoes in the trash because New Balance had the nerve to comment that they felt things are going in the right direction in relationship to a trade deal that they oppose. A trade deal that Trump has rallied against.

So customers put pictures and videos on social media of their shoes in the trash, toilet and on fire. Would love to see a story like this about a car manufacturer making a similar statement. See if these morons put their cars on fire.

Of course it didn't help that a white supremacist declared his support for the company, but customers were already trashing shoes before that.

Just plain stupidity in this country.

Agreed. We live in a world of sound bites and knee-jerk reactions. It is an anti-intellectual mindset. People don't want to think. They don't want to learn. They don't want to discuss the issues. They just want to form a snap decision and act. And they treat everything as if it is black and white with no variation or nuance.

Add me to the list that doesn't trust the media. I always knew there was a bias in reporting but kept telling myself that there had to be some truth to the story. My sister lives one block away from the shooting in Mt Greenwood, Chicago. The half-truths and absolute lies that the media is spreading regarding what happened was eye-opening and disgusting. I cancelled my newspaper because I just couldn't stomach it anymore. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that the media is trying to start a race war. The kicker is that the protesters themselves have posted videos of the protests that contradict what the "reporters" have written. I really don't even think reporters were there and are just relying on Twitter posts to write a story.

                                That's an interesting comment.

I've often commented about how reports always make a point of stating the race or nationality of people involved in a story when the vast majority of the time, it is totally irrelevant to what happened. "Mr. Jones, a 59-year-old African American, told us that..." or "Mrs. Smith, a white student at ABC University, had this to say...." Unless the person's race is integral to the report, I see no reason to mention it. It only serves to reinforce a racial divide.
