What do you guys watch on tv? I think part of our problem with watching TV is my DH keeps wanting us to watch as a family but we DO NOT like the same things. And he wants "family" time so we do other things. UGH. I wanted to watch mulan but haven't found the time since he doesn't want to.

Probably 90% or more of my TV watching is Netflix.
As for actual TV, my wife will put GMA on in the morning so I'll catch 10 minutes of that before I leave for work. In the evening, we'll usually watch Netflix but sometimes will just want something mindless so we'll catch an old Star Trek. I like American Pickers. We like Big Bang Theory. And there is almost always some old movie on that we like and don't mind coming in in the middle of. Last night or the night before, it was one of the Raiders of the Lost Ark movies. There's some Food Network stuff that we like too, like Chopped or Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives.
My wife and I will usually watch something together in the evening for an hour, but again, almost always Netflix (or Disney+ or occasionally Prime). Right now we're watching Bloodline and Schitt's Creek. Personally, I'm watching Orange is the New Black and The 100 by myself.Steve

Our favorites tend to be stuff from Nat Geo, Smithsonian, Discovery. The husband is a Simpsons fan. We enjoy some political entertainment as well - Bill Maher, Daily Show, John Oliver.
Both of us have been a Gold Rush fan for years.
On idle weekend days it's not uncommon for some old movie to be going in the background.
I watch truly weird stuff on Netflix and it's rare when I do. One-off documentaries. My husband watches it a lot more than I do, some of the bigger name series.
Two series that I recently really have enjoyed (not netflix) are Succession and Shameless.History will judge the complicit.

Family TV is tough... my 12 year old and I simply don't like the same things. SO and I typically watch TV in different rooms unless baseball is on lol. I'm an HGTV junkie. He watches the history channel. When we wind down at night its usually Friends reruns or netflix - criminal minds or occasionally a documentary

Ugh.... I watched the first half hour or so, and couldn't deal with it any longer. So embarrassing & disgraceful. Our international allies are literally having conversations right now about if they have faith in the future of our country. Gratefully, it sounds like the commission is going to put in place some controls to limit the outrageous degree of interruptions.Originally posted by bjl584 View PostNot the debate.
I heard that was a disaster.

Well, I suppose that depends on which candidate you support. I thought it helped the cause a great deal.Originally posted by bjl584 View PostNot the debate.

Eh, I'd say at best it may have solidified the position for those against Trump. I doubt it won over many folks who are on the fence... While Biden handled himself far more professionally, and made some good points, it wasn't much of anything new that he hasn't already stated repeatedly. For those supporting Trump, most of his supporters seem to be binary -- "Trump is the obvious best option" or "Biden is not an acceptable option." I doubt last night changed any minds.Originally posted by disneysteve View Post

I will never comprehend how anyone can be "undecided" at this point. The candidates are total and complete opposites in every possible way. How can you truly not have a preference?Originally posted by kork13 View PostI doubt it won over many folks who are on the fence
I always wonder if people who claim to be undecided just say that because they don't want to discuss who they intend to vote for. At least that would make sense.

Often, it's because a person believes in certain aspects of what each candidate is advocating for, but not others. Not everyone is universally polarized in their opinions, and viewpoints will vary widely. Centrists may agree with certain policies from both, so they have to make a judgement call of what their priorities are, who can realistically accomplish those priorities, and so forth. Those of us who are legitimate centrists will often struggle to back one of just two candidates, because they tend to play largely toward their polarized bases of support, with token advocacy toward the center. There's alot of nuance in the center, and that 10-20% slice of American voters will always struggle in making up our minds. Gratefully, I'm not one of the undecided... But I know many still are, because they're trying to balance what they believe in, and who they believe will succeed at doing what they care about.Originally posted by disneysteve View PostI will never comprehend how anyone can be "undecided" at this point. BUT.... in any case, we've once again diverted this unsuspecting thread toward politics once again.... Sorry.... ::Sigh:: Election season really needs to wrap up....
