  • RIP Justice Ginsburg

NPR is reporting that Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg passed away due to complications from cancer.

She is reputed to have been worth $4,000,000 according to her last financial disclosure documents. (Here).

Regardless of your politics, she was a remarkable woman. Rest In Peace.

RBG's death (and the inevitable political firestorm it will set off) will likely be a leading headline for weeks or months. It'd be nice if the politicians could at least give it a week or so to honor her work & legacy, but I don't expect that'll happen... Agree or disagree with her interpretations of the law, she was a world class jurist.

There needs to be a max. age limit where your term on the supreme court is over.
Pretty ridiculous to have the highest court in the land seated with 80+ year old seniors in poor health.

She was an amazing woman and inspired so many. I was saddened to hear she passed yesterday.

It is very sad, and unfortunately may have catastrophic ramifications for this country for decades to come.

            Sad to hear this news.

I see that the political fighting has started already.

Ugh... Our politics are so ugly.

While I fully agree that the sitting president & Senate have every right & responsibility to fill any vacant SCOTUS seat, the dripping hypocrisy of comparing 2016 vs. today is sickening.

I don't support an age limit, but I would support a cognitive test. RBG was still sharp as a tack.

I think that if a new Justice does get rushed in, and if Biden wins the election, that a couple more seats will be added to the Court.

I think that is a strong possibility. It's something they've talked about for years but this could be the impetus to actually do it.

If a new Justice does get rushed in, then either way you look at it, the Dems have had a seat stolen from them. Of course, it is entirely possible that a new Justice will not be confirmed, or that Trump will win the election.

I think it is highly doubtful that they wouldn't confirm his pick. And if he gets re-elected, then nothing will matter.

It won't matter for now; it might matter in the future.

For sure. I just meant that the pre-election maneuvering will be a moot point if Trump wins anyway. In that case, either way he would be the one appointing the next justice. Obviously, the GOP rush to approve someone now is to get that person in in case Trump loses.
