What Are The Christmas Shipping Deadlines for 2023?

December 13, 2023 by Jenny Smedra

What Are The Christmas Shipping Deadlines for 2023?

It’s hard to believe that Christmas is nearly here. However, it’s that time of year again and delivery services are busier than ever. So, if you’re trying to beat the holiday rush and ensure that your packages arrive on time, you’ll need to know which services are available. For those who are wondering, “What are the Christmas shipping deadlines for 2023?”, here’s everything you need to know.

What Are The Christmas Shipping Deadlines for 2023?

With Christmas Day falling on a Monday this year, delivery schedules will be more of a challenge. Without overnight deliveries available on Sunday, December 24, it will be more difficult to ensure they arrive on time. However, here are all the shipping deadlines to ensure that your packages end up under the tree.

USPS

If you are using the United States Postal Service, you will want to make sure you get your packages in the mail as soon as possible. The good news is that USPS will not be adding a surcharge for your holiday parcels this year. While it remains the most affordable option, it may take a little longer than other options.

  • USPS Ground Advantage: Sat. December 16
  • First Class Mail: Sat. December, 16
  • Priority Mail: Mon. December 18 and Sat. December 16 (Hawaii)
  • Priority Mail Express: Wed. December 20

Their calculator can also give you an idea of how much your package will cost to ship as well.

Amazon

Buying directly from Amazon will expedite the shipping process, saving you time and hassle. Prime members will also have some extra time for their last-minute shopping.

But, you should keep in mind that their schedules only provide estimated delivery times. And, your packages may not all arrive at the same time. So if you’re cutting it too close for comfort, an e-gift card may be your best option.

  • Free Shipping: Thurs. December 14
  • 2-Day Shipping (Prime): Fri. December 22
  • 1-Day Shipping (Prime): Sat. December 23
  • Same Day Delivery (Prime): Sun. December 24
  • e-Gift Card Delivery: Mon. December 25

FedEx

Private delivery services will offer extended deadlines. However, you will still need a few extra days to make sure it gets to its destination by December 25. Here are the FedEx recommended shipping deadlines.

  • FedEx Ground Economy: Wed. December 13
  • FedEx Home Delivery and FedEx Ground: Fri. December 15
  • FedEx Express Saver: Tues. December 19
  • 2Day & 2Day AM: Wed. December 20
  • First Overnight and Priority Overnight: Thurs. December 21
  • FedEx SameDay: Fri. December 22

Saturday deliveries may be available. But, you should expect a $16 surcharge per package.

UPS

Like its biggest competitor, UPS will also have an extended delivery deadline.  Fortunately, it will not be applying its demand surcharge. But, you will want to have everything sent by the following dates to avoid additional fees and delays.

  • UPS Ground and UPS Ground Saver: check deadlines here
  • UPS 3 Day Select: Tues. December 19
  • UPS 2nd Day Air: Wed. December 20 or Thurs. December 21 (with Sat. delivery)
  • UPS Next Day Air: Thurs. December 21 or Fri. December 22 (with Sat. delivery)

Although Christmas isn’t here yet, don’t let these deadlines sneak up on you. Otherwise, you might be setting yourself up for a huge holiday headache!
