5 Home Maintenance Apps to Help You Save Money While Saving Your Home

July 10, 2023 by Melissa Batai

An array of tools laid out on a wood table.

Properly maintaining a home takes a lot of time and money. However, most of us lead busy lives and need help remembering when (or how) to do home maintenance chores. Luckily, some tools can assist us. These five home maintenance apps are the best to help you keep your home in order and in excellent condition.

5 Home Maintenance Apps to Help You Save Money While Saving Your Home

Each of these home maintenance apps is good for different tasks. Combine them, and you have all the necessary tools to maintain your home!

HomeZada

HomeZada helps homeowners track home improvements and maintenance, inventory the home’s contents in case of damage such as flooding or fire, keep track of all home related expenses from the home’s value, to how much you’ve spent on maintenance and repairs, and more.

You can get HomeZada for free, or you can choose to pay $79 a year. The free version only gets you home inventory, home documents, contact list, and newsfeed, so the paid version is the way to go if you want to utilize other features like home maintenance, remodeling, and finances.

iFixIt

Home repairs can be expensive! Of course, you’ll want to call in the experts for major repairs, but consider using the iFixIt app for more straightforward repairs. You can type in your appliance and ask how to repair something specific (and get the answer), see specifications for your model, find the owner’s manual, and even order the parts you need. Best of all, this app is free!

Centriq

Perfect for minimalists and those who like to do their own repairs, Centriq asks you to take pictures of all your appliances and tools. Then, the app assists you in many ways. You can find the owner’s manual, get a regular maintenance schedule for each item, get notified of any recalls, and even order the necessary parts.

This app has a tiered pricing structure. You can sign up for free and use the app for five appliances or devices. Or, you can choose the $17.95 yearly subscription for up to 15 appliances/devices. Next is $29.95 for 30 appliances/devices.

Angi (formerly Angie’s List)

This site gives you the names of experts in your area and reviews from other verified users. Some companies will give you a discount if you tell them you found them on Angi.

I used Angi extensively when we prepared to put our home on the market. We found excellent service providers, which I loved. However, one drawback to Angi is that I received constant phone calls and emails from them, which I found intrusive.

Green Pal

If you need lawn maintenance or mowing but hate calling several companies, Green Pal is for you. This app let’s you read the lawn care companies’ reviews, get quotes, and book an appointment, sometimes even for the next day!

Final Thoughts

Maintaining your home takes time, energy, and money. However, these home maintenance apps help make that responsibility a little lighter.
