Spice Up Your Savings: Tips for Budget-Friendly Shopping at Spicewalla

If you love to cook, you know how important it is to use high-quality spices from reputable brands. Although premium spices can be more expensive than average seasonings, they’re much more flavorful, allowing you to generate dishes of superior flavor and quality.  In the end, you’ll save money by investing in top-shelf spices that go further and last longer, especially if you can get them at a discount.  So, if you’re a cook or serious about high-end cooking, read this Spicewalla review.

What Is Spicewalla?

Spicewalla is a small batch, artisanal spice company.  Spicewalla was founded by Meherwan Irani, a 5x James Beard-nominated chef (1) in 2017.  The company stocks about 250 types of fresh, small-batch seasonings and spice blends.   Spicewalla sells wholesale to food service organizations and retail to home cooks, chefs and recipe developers.

Spicewall sells a premium product, and is not generally views as a discount product.  However, for the savvy shopper who wants premium quality Spicewalla spices AND a discount, here are five smart shopping strategies you can use to score great deals.

5 Ways to Save Money at Spicewalla

Use A Cash Back Site

By and large, the major cash back sites like Rakuten and Swagbucks don’t offer discounts at Spicewalla.  A noticeable exception to this is Rebate Fanatic.

Rebate Fanatic is a cash back site.  How it works is retailers pay Rebate Fanatic a commission for directing customers to their online storefronts. Then Rebate Fanatic passes on a portion of that commission to you in the form of cash back, enabling you to save money on everyday purchases such as Spicewalla seasonings.  The basic model works well.

After you join, you can score up 15 percent cash back on Spicewalla spices. All you have to do is use Rebate Fanatic’s referral link to navigate to the Spicewalla storefront so your purchase can be tracked and rewarded. You can find the referral link and additional Spicewalla coupon codes (such as free shipping on orders of $25 or more) on Rebate Fanatic’s website.

Rebate Fanatic is a bit of a diamond in the rough.  The site is clunky, but its clunkiness camouflages some excellent value for savers.  They’ll also give you $5 for signing up in addition to the 15% off Spicewalla, so it’s well worth giving it a spin.

Use A Cash Back Card

A reliable way to save money is by using a cash back credit card or cash back debit card.  How these work is every time you buy something, the card company stores the information and awards you a percentage of what you buy in the form of cash  For example, if your card awards you 1.5% back, you’ll get a penny and a half back for every dollar you spend.

You can always use a cash back card that gives you a percentage back on food or groceries.  Spicewalla is technically a grocer, so depending on which card you have, you could get up to 5% back.

You’ll want to be sure you maintain a zero balance on your credit cards. Credit card debt is extremely expensive and hard on your credit score.

For more on how cash back cards work, Bankrate.com has a good article on the topic.

Sale Section

To make room for new flavors, Spicewalla offers limited-time deals on certain spices and bundles in its sale section. Discounts often range from 10 to 20 percent off the original list price or more. Since the selection rotates, you never know when your favorite spice may show up, so make sure to check the sale section frequently to avoid missing out!

Stack their sales with the cash back site (Rebate Fanatic) and cash back credit card.

Email Newsletter

Signing up for Spicewalla’s email newsletter is another good way to save. You’ll receive exclusive discounts and get notified about special sales and promotions, which will help you score the best deals. Plus, new customers who subscribe to the newsletter can get 10 percent off their purchases.   The way to do this is navigate to their “contact us” page.  The email sign up is down at the bottom.  So, here:

Wholesale Program

While this won’t apply to the average home cook, Spicewalla has a wholesale program that allows restaurants, bars, and culinary creators to save money on bulk spice orders. If you’re a restaurateur or creator, all you have to do is send in a wholesale application and get accepted to score substantial discounts.
